What is everyone's views on the TV show...COMBAT MISSIONS??

For those who don't know what this was is a TV show with former Special Operations Forces and SWAT officers who were split into teams who had to play against each team in re-inactments of missions from hostage rescue, destroying a tank, POW extraction etc..

For those have seen it what did you think about it...in terms of how each team demonstrated their abilities

In ther program during the CQB missions...SWAT officers seemed to indicate that the SEALs had no clue regarding CQB...I assumed that part of SEAL training operators go through extensive CQB training..

It also seemed that these seasoned SOF/SWAT operators seemed pretty **** in terms why on many of the missions they went very badly...poor accuracy...planning seemed terrible....didn't seem not many of them listened during the mission breifings at the start.

Not to speak ill of the dead but Scott Halveston (ex SEAL) many people including the SEALs thought he was unprofessional and acted like a little child...and would have given people watching a bad view of the SEALs...He wasn't really a great example of SEAL professionalism.

Some of my observations...so what does everyone else think?

Going to see if I can find them on the net, and I'll get back to you.
Sounds like an interesting idea for a show.

I remember watching that a while back, it was an alright concept, but they never really did a great job with it.

The idea was good but that actual show was awful, Plus the guys in the show seemed like they'd spent to much time in the gym rather than bein out in the field, it was more like who has the biggest bicep missions.

You have to remember that it was a TV show - producers often (translated - always) "suggest" how each individual should act, as to make situation more tense or suggest that there is always conflict etc... I spoke to the members of team "Delta" from the show and they inclined that there was a lot of BS going on behind the camera. For example, there was a decision to shuffle around team members because their team was doing so well - so a race would appear close. I was told the MEUSOC guy (added - "Nutter") tossed a smoke grenade when walking away from the judges' table - it maybe "unprofessional", but I got a good idea that everybody was rather pissed 24/7 while working on that show - I guess some showed it more than others...

Really appreciate your input guys...it's interesting to get your view on it.

I've just watched all 15 episodes...I downloaded it..

From the tactical side of things...yeah I'm not military and never been in combat...but seemed silly mistakes were made...gung ho attitude taken by certain members of the team.

I noticed many many mistakes....

On one mission they had to rescue a pow from a truck with the number "13" in big white letters painted on the side of it....they were told this in the breifing before hand...

During the mission a truck with the number "23" came along...instead of sitting tight and letting it pass as it wasn't the target vehicle...they engaged it...**** loads of hostiles were in the back...which resulted in most of their team being killed..

On another mission they have to apprehend a drug lord from a meth lab in the desert....they didn't seem to setup any security perimeter once they had secured the location....as a result a tango ran up behind them and started opening up....luckily the tango was dropped before killing any freindlies...but the this took the team by total surprise...didn't seem right to me..why they let that happen..and I thought they would be tactically tight!

From the concept of it...the guys selected are highly seasoned operators who have been in combat many many times...just seemed like many of the teams were disorganised...they didn't work together in a team...and silly...they did not listen to the mission breifings giving them valuable mission intel....mistakes were made and inproper planning led to MANY missions failing or the majority of the teams being killed by the enemy...

I'm sure everyone who has seen these will know what I mean...

Apparently there is going to be a Combat missions 2....not sure how accurate that is but hopefully it will be better than the first.

Noticed in episode 3 just now, during weapon assembly drill, Boz drops the AK he just assembled muzzle onto the table and it goes off - weapon looked to be sideways and one of the Delta guys takes a quick step back... For AK to do that, it has to be either Romanian or in a very poor shape - funny thing is Boz didn't even flinch... He's a cool guy - I saw him on a pier this summer at an undisclosed location - total surfer dude.

The SWAT "Weapon Expert" doesn't know what Krinkov is and calls it "Karishnikov" :D

Scott Helveston, one of the PMCs killed and burned in Iraq in 2003 (or was it 2004) was one of the front-runners on the show.

Yeah he was. rip mate. I still have to watch the episodes. He has a really big mouth, kinda looks like michael biehn.

everybody on this show is pretty big, except ed bugarin, the d3lta force guy. wilson wong is pretty ripped too. I like asian guys on sf, swat teams. I knew a few asian men on swat teams from all over and they're pretty professional.

It was the only reality show I've ever watched but the ending was dumb.

Did you not read that I've said that the BS was going on behind the camera - taken figuratively or literally, how do you expect to "notice" anything" watching the show on the TV? :) Unless you were on production staff and would like to tell me something of the contrary.

The BS I spoke of is purely from talking to some of the members of "Delta" team in person or simply knowing some of the behind the scenes of what makes other reality shows work...

Baz is hardcore, i´ve read somewhere he has an agency that finds and rescues abducted children.

If there where another CM i hope they lose some of the american gladiator stuff and concentrate on longer running missions and more time for the teams to train together.
