Doubtful its a modified M1. But I guess it could be, probably m2 or m3 though.

Is it not a Ruger?

Ruger AC556 (As seen on the A team) or modified Mini 14 (As carried by the RUC a while back)?

I'm gonna go with one of the Ruger Mini-30, with a different stock.

I'm pretty certain it's a Ruger, although, it's definatily not the same as they pack in A-Team! :)

Looks like a M1A1 Carbine to me, Like the Paratroops carried in WWII and a few fellas used them in the first few years of Vietnam.

It is certainly a M1 carbine derivative, Post war, commercial manufacture.

If I were to guess I'd say Universal manufacture.

it is an M1 carbine...most likely a universal they made a stock that was wire and collapsable or a folder.....that is it

M1? Magazine dosn't look big enough to be 5.56mm.

M1 Carbine with underfolder stock. Police like the .30 Carbine cartridge because there is less chance of overpenetration.

I'm gonna throw my hat into this discussion and say it's an M1 carbine with an aftermarket stock. Its definitely NOT a Ruger Mini-14.

Sorry couldn't resist the A Team reference...

Anyway having looked a little harder it isn't an AC556 anyway so it was a wasted one.

Oh come on people, a mini 14? Please.

It's obliously a M1 or M2 with some kind of aftermarket stock. Popular with police in third world nations.

Thanks to everyone for your comments.

This is the first time ive seen a police officer carrying one of this carbines, thats why it was so unidentifiable for me.

I'd say definately M1 carabine. See the windage sight, Ruger don't have those I don't think.

I would say a M2 seeing who is carrying it, either way basically the same rifle. The out side difference between a M1 and M2 carbine is the little selector up on the left side, of the receiver.

It is a variation of a M1 carbine. It looks like there is a selector lever on the left side, about where it would be on the M2, so it may be a select fire M2. The US folding stock was different, so I would say it is an aftermarket one.

M1 with underfolder aftermarket stock. I used to have the same thing many years ago. The stock sucked, put it back into a standard stock. Edit (actually not after market, you could get it from Planfield with this stock)

It looks like the Plainfield commercial version. Much better than the Universal and closer to the GI gun from the Korean war (has the micro sight and bayonet lug unlike the WW2 version).

My first guess was Mini-14, but I think people nailed it with the M1/M2 rifle with after market mods.
