the MG43 looks alot like the FN Minimi.

Yep, new HK LMG for Bundeswehr. Yes, it will be general issue. It is very similar to the FN M249/Minimi family of weapons. It only has a safe-full selector however! :roll: I would like at least a single shot. You know, bipod, sniping, etc.

it looks a lot like the minimi except the barrel release is in a different position and the picadily rail is also higher on the minimi.

Does H&K make the MG43?

Yes, H&K product. It is a belt feed LMG, with a ROF of 750 RPM. Chambered in 5.56 Nato, and firing from a open bolt, weighing in at 18.8lbs. Here are some better pictures btw:

On another interesting note, it is speculated that a 7.62 Nato version is being produced as well. No information on that variant is available as of yet, however.

Yes, they are rather similar. That is kindof the point, however. It's a large step over the rather cumbersome MG3, I imagen.
