These aren't the same people that made up the Einsaztgurppen are they? I remember reading about the conscription by the SS to have Lithuanians to the very dirty work like Barba Yar and Kaunas. In Kaunas, the civilians were prominant in murdering Jews. One called "the death dealer of Kaunas" slaughtered hundreds with a long crow bar.

No, interwar(independent) Lithuanian military was issued german helmets, That probably made you associations with nazis...

The lithuanians used late 1st world war german helmets not 2nd world war ones.

The helmet of this venerable veteran is an extremely rare m1918 german helmet, also called cavalry helmet.
This piece of history is very expensive in the militaria market.
