I am just curious on everybodys opinion on the shoulder fired anti-tank missile (who has the best and what is it) I believe that the all glorious United States still uses the javelin and maybe the predator missiles but fill me in that is why im asking. Call me a freak but I would love to fire a missile from my shoulder that can blow the turrent clean off a tank

I really liked the Milan that we used, but I never saw one used in combat.

The Javalin looks really tough.

The Jav is tough,, and the Predator is supposed to be a mean f*ck as well.

Equipment / Gear? I foresee intervention from above. ;)

BTW, is the Milan really a 'shoulder-fired' missile? Since I've always seen it either on a tripod or on a vehicle mount.

It's also a new, portable and disposable fire-and-forget missile...with top attack capabilities like the TOW-2B. I'd get a link but I'm already doing too many things at once!

We had some mounts that were really heavy. It was more of a conversion for that use than anything. It worked, but was hard to move around with it. It was a tough missile, but a pain to use in this role.

I guess the Brits used them in the Falklands as well.

I never dealt with them so I really can't give too many details beyond saying that I saw them and they lookd heavy.

there tripod mounted I suppouse if you were some sort of freak you could fire one from a shoulder.
the javalin suppoused to be around 49lb all up so I guess your be kneeling at least to shoot the thing.
for approx £12000 a round the bangs not that impressive :(

We just had a bit of fun firing M72 subcals (I know AT rockets, not missiles, sorry)....we had about 140 of them to fire.....I kept on "bankshotting" the target......hitting the ground and bouncing into the target.....great fun :D

the firing post of milan weigh 17 kg. with the missile mounted it going to add another 12.5kg. I do not see how any one can shoulder fire this.

Technically it possible to shoulder fire the Spike though it not specially design for shoulder firing role.

It's probably been discussed elsewhere, but can anyone compare the RPG-7 to any of the previously mentioned western antitank weapons systems.
As far as ease of use, reliability, effectiveness, etc.

thnx in advance.
