For the benefit all of the non Aussies here,, Pauline Hanson,, is considered by many in Australia to be nothing but a bigoted "redneck". Others though, think that she shows a lot of courage in standing up, telling it like its is and not bowing down to the "politically correct police".

I personally think that she needs to be well and truly "rogered" by a very well endowed African from "behind" :)

Hanson unhappy about 'sick Africans'

One Nation founder Pauline Hanson says she's worried that black South Africans infected with AIDS and tuberculosis are allowed into Australia.
Flagging a political comeback at next year's federal election, Ms Hanson also said she was angry Australians were unable to swim in public baths because of the sensitivities of Muslims.

"You don't bend over backwards appeasing their demands because the politicians want their vote ... unless you change this you will have social incohesion which is already happening in this country," she told Southern Cross Broadcasting.

"If they don't want it, then they can go back where they came from."

Ms Hanson said she was committed to running as an independent in Queensland at the next election, though she had not made up her mind if she would run for the lower house or Senate.

She said she decided to make a political comeback after members of the public had urged her to do so.

"I have still got a lot of issues and I have still got a lot of concerns like a lot of Australians and I think that I would like to voice my opinions and have a say on behalf of the Australian people, to represent them," she said.
Ms Hanson claimed that federal parliamentary secretary for immigration Andrew Robb had admitted on television that the government was letting in many "black South Africans" with health issues.

"Andrew Robb actually admitted that a few months ago, it was on TV," she said.
"He indicated there was around about 37 per cent of black South Africans that were coming in with ongoing health issues."

Ms Hanson said she had been told by a hospital worker of an African woman with AIDS who had given birth to a child with AIDS.

"There's increasing numbers of TB (tuberculosis) and they have picked up ... it could be almost one third that actually carries TB," she claimed.
"I have got children, grandchildren ... I would hate to see anyone who may be subjected to catching TB or AIDS."

Ms Hanson was jailed in 2003 for fraudulently registering the One Nation party and spent 73 days in prison before her conviction was overturned.
She split from her former party and has spent the past two years writing her autobiography.

Questioned on her concerns about Muslims, Ms Hanson said she was angry that Australians were no longer able to sing Christmas carols in schools or swim in public swimming pools.

"What people are getting all upset about is the fact that you can't sing Christmas carols in schools because it upsets a certain amount of people," she said.

"You can't actually swim in baths because a certain amount of people want their privacy to swim in those baths.

"Swimming baths and pools that have been paid for by the taxpayers over the years and yet they are closed to everyone to use at the same time."
Ms Hanson said she was also concerned about the government's new industrial relations laws, the privatisation of government assets and bureaucratic red tape.

"I don't want to be bowed or beaten or pushed in the corner by politicians who just want to have it their way," she said.

"These are issues, concerns that I have. I have a right to know the answers."

Ms Hanson said she would make an official announcement about her comeback next year. She said she would give herself plenty of time to campaign.

Don't worry mate. All states are jealous that they don't live in Queensland.
That's why you all come up here for holidays.Although I've never been to Brekky ck. Must go some time. You should come up to the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Right now, it's pissing down rain, foggy and about 17 degrees. It's like this nearly all year, you'd feel right at home

When my parents came to canada from hong kong 30 years ago, they kept their mouths shut, accepted the situation, and my dad became an engineer and my mom an accoutant and never caused any problems or complaints.

I don't seen why politicians should start enforcing rules just to please immigrants who have no idea what the capital of australia is. (It's canberra btw).

Hanson has a point, maybe too blunt and the truth hurts sometimes.

After world war 2 ended, what did the japanese do? They didn't whine and complain. They went to work and now we have computers, tv's, microwaves, fast cars and the list goes on.
Perfect role models.

He's a strange deal for a Labor man.God botherer, very outspoken.I like him, only because I live 5 minutes away from his sister. You need two strong parties,or else the Libs will just start dragging their feet. If Labor keeps on about Interest rates and IR reform, I can see them being very competitive come election time.

She has good points and she has bad points.

Socially i think she would be a step forward (getting rid of the current 2 Welfares system), however Economically i think she would drag us through the mud right back to the 80's.

Having said that NONE of our politicians are addressing the REAL issue in this country... Our Water Crisis.

We should be recycling water, but no politician has the balls to push it through.

The solutions to the water shortages are easily resolved, what is lacking is the commitment.

How easy would it be to divert 3rd class water from sewage plants to the electrical generating plants. Just think of how much that would reduce the consumption of "clean" 1st class water that electrical generating plants are sucking up from our dams.

The other big saver is of course total water recycling. By this sewage water is treated to 1st class level, and it is pumped back into our "drinking" system.

Alas,, the average Aussie still has a bit of aprehension about this, and until we overcome the "yuk" factor, we will get nowhere.

The only other viable aspect is a nuclear de-salination plant,,but imagine the uproar if we decide to build one on the outskirts of Melb, Syd, Perth, ect.

Say what you want but Hanson raised issues mainstream party politicians would not touch. Note that populist Howard integrated Hanson policies on aboriginal and immigration policy.

She might have been poorly spoken for someone in the limelight but she had an impact on Federal politics like no other since Don Chipp and his 'keep the bastards honest' campaign.

Every once in a while its healthy to have someone question our political orthodoxy.

I thought you guys do recycle. Last time I was in Adelaide, the in-laws had purple taps denoting "grey" water for watering lawns etc. I was told that this was recycled. Before they got the new place, I stayed with them in their old gaff and was told Adelaide water was crap, so we actually got water from an underground storage tank via a hand pump, chucked it through a waterfilter and boiled it for a cuppa. The bro-in-law lives up near Ballarat and he's got a rain collection system to sort out his woes. He tells me that theres a waiting list for water tanks etc now, and that a lot of housing didnt have rain collection tanks built in up there as the council was afraid of water borne diseases festering in the tanks.

Back to Hanson - yep, she's a nutter and a bad advert for some very valid questions. This isnt stuff you can sweep under the carpet, there are issues that have to be addressed in a rational ( and sometimes firm un pc ) way. If you dont, you'll end up with Neo Nazi type organisations feeding on the resentment of the majority culture. Hanson doesnt exacerbate tensions, she's giving voice to what was already there and what people have pretended didnt exist or tried to ignore. You cannot have a vast mix of cultures , some of which are very different, and not get friction between them.

Pauline Hanson is the type of person who could have been a brilliant politician in the 1930s.People were still gulliable enough to believe the bigoted rubbish she espouses. You are right though, Hanson doesn't excacerbate tension, but she does excacerbate the differences beetween cultures, and then claims that the other culture is responsible for any tension tht may arise.
Much like the U.K, the big cities in Australia have so many different cultures, it's hard to tell the way to the train station sometimes, you see so many signs in other languages . But Hanson comes from a part of Queensland that, to put it kindly, isn't full of the most worldly of creatures. She insists on using solutions that were valid and reasonable in the 1930s on the problems of today, and the people of Ipswich are gulliable enough to swallow her codswallop and vote her in. She even advocated taking Australias foriegn aid away from Indonesia after the Tsunami because they imprisoned a drug dealer amed Schapelle Corby. Now I'm so conservative I even download G.Gordon Liddys show off of the internet, but Pauline Hanson doesn't do this to incite political debate. With our massive underground water deposits i see hardly why.,. "Nuclear is even an issue for us anymore".

It isnt excatly like Plane flights for employees in and out is a big issue, More then common place for Mining Companys. With the vast land we have been blessed with it isnt like a nuclear plant for such engery needs to make realisitc dessalinization a possibility is far from reach.

A few cents from everybody goes a Very Long Way.

Just hope we all can make it happen fast enough, otherwise we WILL end up living the life of the True Blue, and that is no way an easy or 'fare' life.

I really do not think urging minorities to assimilate or integrate with a place's culture is all that bad an idea, and I am saying this as a member of a minority, some of her suggestions do make sense, while some go a bridge too far, I really think it is more advisable for Australia to depend on native brith rates to boost its population than to depend on immigration, since a lot of its immigrants come from countries that have birth rates that are below replacement rate, so these countries need every single person they can get also, and immigration is dependent on the state of the economies of the countries from which these persons are immigrating from, now if the economy in those countries begin to pick up, then the flow of immigration could quickly dry up as well, therefore it is not a sound idea to depend on immigration to offset a declining population, better to try to have government programs that raise the fertility rate of Australia from the present 1.78 to about 2.2 to 2.3+ in my opinion, other than her race remarks you will find that her stance on issues is not all that different from say, Pim Fortuyn.

If you want to see racism you will find it everywhere. I have travelled fairly extensively in this region and I have yet to find a society lacking in racism.
