A guy I used to work with served with Howard in the Rangers (cant remember wich batt) post Vietnam. He said that he was one of those leaders that struck awe and a little fear in his troops. Howard was sort of protected by the Army in those days as he was famous for doing stuff that anyone else would have been booted for. On a related note, this same friend had **** Meadows as one of his RIs during Ranger Scool, I think it was in Florida.
Ive thought about writing a biography of Bob Howard for years, one helluva soldier.
