Is it just me or the rear end (bottom part in particular) of that aircraft looks quite similar to MiG-21 series?

Are those pictures from the 60's or are they actual modern prototypes. Anyways good first step for the Chinese but it shows just how far they have to come in terms of fighter aircraft. I thought bubble Canopies had proven their usefulness

i like it's look, so classical line of jet fighter ...
PLA AF isn't going to buy it? i heard that it's only to sell abroad....

I heard the same. In Chinese forum there has been a debate on whether FC-1 could help the company survive.

Not a bad start at all. Looks kind of F20 Tigershark at first glance, but its quite different. Good luck to them !

Thanks.

It is still largely a MiG-21/J-7 heritage, but equipped with western electronics. The project once called Super-7, got help mainly from US company, Northrop (why F20 look?) I remember, before cancled after that bloody summer 15 years ago.

Hmm mods here obviously condone racism?

The FC-7 is an attempt to capture the future Asian market for an F-5 replacement, hoping to supplant more expensive western designs that are usually just modified Lead in Fighter Trainers.

Interesting...the top view...from the cockpit back looks quite similiar to the F16.

If the basic aircraft capabilities are superior to the F5 series and are in the neighborhood of the F16A, and the price is right(meaning cheap!), they might sell quite a few to nations unable to afford Western kit.

If it's cheap enough...maybe we can all pitch in and buy one!

For some reason I thought I read something about this being an aircraft focused on replacing Pakistani F6s & F7s.

Anyone have any basic performance details on this bird?

Did anyone notice that he wing fences (? not sure if thisis the correct term) are no longer on the wings of the plane? The pictures of 03 show smoothe wings, where as the yellow prototype still has the fences present. Any idea what this means?

Looks a bit like Mirage F1, F-16 and Mig 21. I heard it is planned to be a cheap fighter for third world Airforces.
That means they get new planes and dont hasve to buy used russian or western types.

The Chinese and the Pakistanis do have a crop of some very competent engineers - the Arabs, Indians and Pakistanis do produce some top notch techno types - some work in the west doing some very high tech stuff. You cant stop them from going home and bringing their skills back with them. Heck, some components for western passenger aircraft are made in China and both Boeing and Airbus are happy to use them.

FC-1 might not be much compared to a wesrtern frontline fighter, but for Pakistani AF it's a big improvement over its current main fighters, J-6/Mig-19 type. FC-1 is intended to be the replacement of J-6 as PAF's main fighters.

And as member 'J-10' pointed out, PLAAF itself will use J-10.

Personally, I don't know why PAF is settling for FC-1. There are so many current fighter types available on the market from companies eager to sell. With Pakistan's foreign relation improving due to its current fight against terrorists, it should be able to find a willing seller.
