He-he... good point.
Western soldiers have excellent modern weapon, aviation, missiles, tomagavk etc, but they will never win the fight with guys armed only with AK, because they lack of something far more important than hi-tech weaponry. Warrior spirit. Or simply, they not ready to die for the victory.

Thank you, thank you.
I guess I do deserve an ASBO for relaying my belief that british gun control is dumb, the knife amnesty was laughable, CCTV and national ID cards are frightening, Britannia's legal system is offender-friendly, British welfare is out of control, the British nuclear deterrent isn't really independent, and lastly...
that "Are You Being Served" redefines abysmal programming.
You guys are great, but I wouldn't be here giving my victory speech without the aid of all the little people. Your hair-trigger sensitivity to issues that obviously trouble you has gotten me to where I am today.

no domestic offering can compare to the foulness that is Britcom

?? He is referring to a book and then saying that it is hard to comprehend numbers that big. He doubts that 6 million a bit but that's hardly denial of holocaust. As we all know exact numbers are not known and will never be so we have to make do with estimates and they usually range from 5-6 million depending from researchers. Otherwise he is a total twat though.

I haven't said anything that's hateful of anyone. My only gripe is with the British government's repression of its citizens.
Really?
it's no wonder the masses of British people don't care more about basic oral hygeine.
British life is intollerable .
Why are YOU thankful that you're not British .
British Parasitism .
Only Britons would queue up to be raped by their elected officials.
Obviously, you have an issue with Britain as a whole. But still you continue whining about the way you've been treated. You reap what you sow.

Kosse, people who doubt that 6 million people were murdered during the Holocaust (and infer it could be as low as 300,000) are Holocaust deniers. It's that simple. If you write about, or preach that in Germany/ Austria you are liable to be charged. Now I'm not seriously suggesting that takavar will be charged by writing that post, I exagerate-but he's sailing very close to the wind, don't you think?
Please do not confuse me with this other guy. I have nothing to do with his jew-hating and do not support his views.

Britain was once a great power. That day is over, and your liberal welfare politics are to blame. If you have an alternate explanation, I'd be happy to hear it.

My metaphor of "rape" for "stealing the citizenry's guns" was perhaps lost on you. If it were to happen to me, I would certainly feel violated. American police departments and municipalities are NOT liable to crime victims for their failures to prevent crime. As far as I know, British law is similar. I do appreciate, however, the self-help provisions that have been constitutionally enshrined in American jurisprudence since the day our forces drove your police state's soldiers into the sea at Yorktown.

Not necessarily so - by behaving in the manner he did, whilst making it very obvious that he was an American, he was not doing his fellow countrymen any favours in the eyes of others, especially those of the nation he was attacking - at the same time he also successfully made himself look a complete arse no matter what the views of others!

Would you say that Thanksgiving commemorates the survival of a bunch of dissatisfied British ex-pats?
The original Thanksgiving was commemorated in 1621 immediately after the first harvest. The Pilgrims were particularly grateful to the Native American Squanto, who taught them how to catch eel, grow corn and who served as an interpreter for them (Squanto had learned English as a slave in Europe). Without Squanto's help the Pilgrims might not have survived in the new world.
In 1621, this was not regarded as thanksgiving, but a continuation of the British and Wampanoag harvest festivals.
The following is off of Wikipedia
The Pilgrims did not hold a true Thanksgiving until 1623, when it followed a drought, prayers for rain, and a subsequent rain shower. Irregular Thanksgivings continued after favourable events and days of fasting after unfavourable ones. In the Plymouth tradition, a thanksgiving day was a church observance, rather than a feast day.
Gradually, an annual Thanksgiving after the harvest developed in the mid-17th century. This did not occur on any set day or necessarily on the same day in different colonies in America.
The Revolutionary War to nationhood
During the American Revolutionary War (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Revolutionary_War) the Continental Congress appointed one or more thanksgiving days each year, except in 1777, each time recommending to the executives of the various states the observance of these days in their states.
George Washington (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Washington), leader of the revolutionary forces in the American Revolutionary War (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Revolutionary_War), proclaimed a Thanksgiving in December 1777 as a victory celebration honouring the defeat of the British at Saratoga (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Saratoga). The Continental Congress (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continental_Congress) proclaimed annual December Thanksgivings from 1777 to 1783, except in 1782.
George Washington again proclaimed Thanksgivings, as President (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/President_of_the_United_States), in 1789 and 1795.
The proclamation by President Washington in 1789 was a recommendation of a resolution established by both Houses of Congress establishing the first national Thanksgiving Day on November 26, 1789. The reason for establishing Thanksgiving was "to recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favours of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness. Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be--That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble thanks--for his kind care and protection of the People of this Country previous to their becoming a Nation--for the signal and manifold mercies, and the favourable interpositions of his Providence which we experienced in the tranquillity, union, and plenty, which we have since enjoyed--for the peaceable and rational manner, in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One now lately instituted--for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed; and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and in general for all the great and various favours which he hath been pleased to confer upon us." (Signed) G. Washington, The Massachusetts Sentinel, Wednesday, October 14, 1789
President John Adams (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Adams) declared Thanksgivings in 1798 and 1799. President Madison, in response to resolutions of Congress, set apart a day for thanksgiving at the close of the War of 1812. Madison declared the holiday twice in 1815; however, none of these were celebrated in autumn.
A thanksgiving day was annually appointed by the governor of York Southern there was opposition to the observance of such a day on the ground that it was a relic of Puritanic bigotry, but by 1858 proclamations appointing a day of thanksgiving were issued by the governors of 25 states and two territories. From 1817. In some of the
Therefore, there was one day of giving thanks for the defeat of the British, in December 1777. This was a juxtaposition of American nationalistic pride with the continuation of the Traditional British and Wampanoag celebrations to god for granting them a successful harvest.
This is an account of Thanksgiving off of Wikipedia, from two of the original Pilgrims who were present. At no point do they give thanks for not being English, Welsh, Scotland, Irish, from the Orkneys, Channel, Guernsey, Shetland, Isle of Mann or Craggy Islands (Kudos to the first person who gets this reference).
William Bradford (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Bradford_%281590-1657%29), in Of Plymouth Plantation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Of_Plymouth_Plantation):
"They began now to gather in the small harvest they had, and to fit up their house and dwelling against winter, being all well recovered in health and strength and had all things in good plenty. For as some were thus employed in affairs abroad, others were exercised in fishing, about cod and bass and other fish, of which they took good store, of which every family had their portion. All the summer there was no want; and now began to come in store of fowl, as winter approached, of which this place did abound when they came first (but afterward decreased by degrees). And besides waterfowl there was great store of wild turkeys, of which they took many, besides venison, etc. Besides, they had about a peck of meal a week to a person, or now since harvest, Indian corn to that proportion. Which made many afterwards write so largely of there plenty here to their friends in England, which were not feigned by true reports."
Edward Winslow (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Winslow), in Mourt's Relation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mourt%27s_Relation):
"Our harvest being gotten in, our governor sent four men on fowling, that so we might after a special manner rejoice together after we had gathered the fruits of our labour. They four in one day killed as much fowl as, with a little help beside, served the company almost a week. At which time, amongst other recreations, we exercised our arms, many of the Indians coming amongst us, and among the rest their greatest king Massasoit (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massasoit), with some ninety men, whom for three days we entertained and feasted, and they went out and killed five deer, which we brought to the plantation and bestowed on our governor, and upon the captain and others. And although it be not always so plentiful as it was at this time with us, yet by the goodness of God, we are so far from want that we often wish you partakers of our plenty."
You changed your tune from saying Thanksgiving was a celebration of not being British, to a celebration of the survival of a bunch of disaffected British ex-pats. This is so disingenuously vague that it is impossible to rationally debate with you, and any effort on my part to further diss-prove your point would be met with a rash of deliberate misinterpretations and fallacies.
Anybody can garner anything from a Holiday. By continually refusing to accept that most people dis-agree with you, you somehow think that by baiting people with insulting generalisations, and not supplying counter claims to actual facts you will somehow prove your point. There is a reason you were voted a dumbarse. The Pilgrims left because they were puritanical zealots, who wanted to stop people holding hands or kissing until they were married. Look in the mirror, and ask yourself this." Isn't this the height of hypocrisy?” "Isn't spreading stupid generalisations, having sex before marriage, kissing your girlfriend etc exactly the sort of thing that the Pilgrims sailed half way around the world to escape from?"
You are the antithesis of what the Pilgrims wanted their future country to become. I suggest you go back polishing your guns, and realise that some people are proud to be British, and that’s good enough for them.

That is all.
Nope, the fact that you'll never be taken seriously on this site no matter what you say or how you say it, is all.
Dumbarse.

Thank you Kant for your informative post on the history of Thanksgiving.
Since nobody posted anything of substance overnight, by my reckoning the only dumbasses here are the misinformed Thanksgiving historians, the guy who rambles on and on about "dumbarses" but has difficulty spelling simple words, and a couple of zit-faced American teenagers who don't realize how good they've got it and display alarming overeagerness to jump on an abusive mod's personal overcompensation bandwagon.
I know even Deltawhiskey would like to see Britain restored to her former glory and her citizens' rights returned.
That is all.
rk, I take great exception to your ignorance, arrogance and continued posting of crap, and frankly I - no doubt along with the other members - have had enough of your continued crap, therefore I suggest a period of enforced rest will allow your ego to deflate, and you to spend some time getting to grips with reality. Now do us all a favour and **** off!
Oh, and BTW - just to further point out your ignorance, it's DeltaWhisky (no "t") - the Irish, Canadians and Americans spell Whiskey with an "e", those of us on Scotland do not.

Come on, Hot Lips. Look at his last message. It's obvious he wants to keep running his mouth. If it was any other thread, you wouldn't have a problem at all.
EDIT: argggghhh sorry Hot Lips. Didn't mean to group-attack.

Wrong there, Miles. It's not the thread. It's the concept of throwing someone in a corner where a group proceeds to toss stones at them and then expect them not to say or do anything in response. Doesn't matter what thread it takes place in.

So if a person hammers [insert random group of people] over and over (in a serious way, not jovial) and people keep telling them "STFU, you have no idea what you're talking about, stop being an ignorant tool" and THE POSTER KEEPS COMING BACK FOR MORE, why shouldn't they reap what they sow?
