just a short question for you experts came into my mind...as far as i know hk offers two semi auto sniper rifles at the moment, the msg90 and the psg1. both rifles may have their advantages and disadvantages, but beside the fact that it is smaller in length and less in weight, the msg90 is said to be a favourite choice for customers which want to avoid the high costs for the purchase of a psg1. is this a good decision then, i mean, how good is the msg90 compared to the psg1? hk website doesnt seem to be the best information source here because for sure they want to sell their products and cannot say "that is better -that is worse"...

the psg-1 has 1/2 moa, and the msg-90 3/4 moa if i remember correctly, but after 1 hour the weight difference becomes noticeable...

the MSG is more or less a accurized,built up G3..whereas the PSG is designed to be a marksman's main rifle.

if'n it be multiple targets cap'n..give me a M21..if I have to reach out and smite the evildoers then give me a Remington and some good glass.

The PSG1 was developed for police use - PSG is short for Präzisionsschützengewehr (Precision Shooter Rifle). "Präzisionschütze" is how a police marksman is called in Germany.
It is very precise but also very heavy and long. It is not meant for infantry field use.

The MSG90 was developed as an alternative. MSG is short for Militärisches Scharfschützengewehr (Military Sniper Rifle). "Scharfschütze" (lit. Sharp Shooter) is the German term for a sniper.
The MSG90 marries the PSG1's trigger group to a modified G3 (heavier barrel, forward assist, different buttstock).
It is lighter (6.4kg vs 8.1kg) than the PSG1 and slightly less accurate but also much cheaper and more robust.

MSG90 is a military rifle meant for infantry field action. PSG1 is a police weapon meant to be set up stationary and used when necessary but not to be carried around for long distances.

That's a slightly simplistic explanation.

RS_Leo1A5's post pretty much summed it up. PSG is geared towards non-combat applications, allowing tighter tolerances. MSG is geared towards military applications; the slightly looser tolerances allow for more reliable field use at the expense of some accuracy.
