Hard to say looks very similar:

desert Romanian DPM:

Fabrics type is different, the print is different, as well

woodland DPM is British!

Romanian army probably bought a load from us. Either that or they're making them under license. I'll have a look, I'm interested now!

the romanian DPM pattern is similar to our old pattern, the new DPM patterns have soft dotted edges which the romanians dont i think.

Apparently all the Romanian DPM material is ripstop as well, including the trousers. Heard from a guy who worked with some of there medics, found it quite amusing.

The Romanian desert uniforms are made locally (i.e. in Romania), but I believe the cloth is imported from England. I am unsure about the woodland DPM uniforms, but suspect the same is true.

The jacket and trousers are made in the same heavyweight rip-stop fabric as the S95 smock, whilst the shirt is made from breathable airtex type cloth like the S95 shirt.

Looks like a different cut but other then that, looks close to the same.

the romanian stuff is a tad darker and the fabric is different. you can see those lines everywhere....the british desert stuff is soft, and lightweight, almost feels like flannel or something.

Whenever I ask this question to the Romanians I hang with, they all tell me with pride that British and Italian military uniforms are made in Romania.
The pattern does seem to me to be exactly the same; I see UK and Ro. forces on a daily basis, side by side. The difference seems to be as stated, in the material and shade of color.

woodland DPM is British!

I think you mean temperate DPM - the term "woodland" is a US term.

Ironically, much of the DPM cloth used in both temperate and desert DPM, and many of the garments used by British Forces are actually made in Romania!

...

Off course, I mean temperate DPM, but besides my language lapse I acheived my communication goal, I hope. According to my dictionary I find a word "woodland" much appropriate to describe kind of camo than "temperate". Well if woodland doesn't sound good in relation to DPM in your ears, I solemnly swear use term "temperate DPM", Sir! ;)

As a slight aside I may be going to Romania next year on exercise so I could compare the patterns ;)

Good plan, the first Romanian squaddie you see, rip off one of his sleeves and one of yours, THEN you can compare them.
Or you could just ask to see it. But the sleeve tearing off thing would be a great talking point!

Hmm, could be the product of some kind of deal. If I recall correctly they have several of our old Navy ships and we even gave them some SA80 A1's to go with them

hmm seems i was wrong, ive looked at pic after pic of romanian DPM and it seems it has the same dots as the british dpm but only on the black splodges not on any other colours whereas the british dpm has it on all the colours, so no its not an exact copy, and the cuts and designs are completely different.

Looks really similar to our 'standard' DPM, but the desert DPM just doesn't look... 'right'.
Know what i mean?

UK and Rom Desert DPM (with a norgie in the middle). Theirs looked the same pattern to me but they used ripstop material more than us (not a good idea in the summer). Thankfully we didn't have the DPM boots!

The pattern looks more concentrated. ie more brown splashes than ours.

thnx Sam. That's Sig-226 I presume. Has that been adopted as the official handgun or is it still a temp solution?

No they're Meindl's Desert Fox (or at least that's what they're called in the UK), first class boots but now knackered and relegated to gardening duties. The Norgie's boots I'm pretty certain are what he was issued, can't help with a maker I'm afraid.

There are still a lot of Brownings in the system, which you get seems to depend on role and unit.
