When are the CF gonna go from webbings to MOLLE?
I see a mix of it in these pictures. They all seem to have different tactical vests.

nice pictures though.

We are only issued 1 tac vest and no webbing. Most guys heading to Afghanistan buy their own aftermarket vest as our issued one only is meant to hold 4 mags ( it has other large problems as well...like the fact that it doesnt come in Arid Cadpat ).

Are you not issued the carry handle on your C7's and C8's?

I had to pleasure of meeting some Canadian troops in sept who were just back from overseas a couple of weeks, good guys.

I see that one fella has a Sig P226 are these on issue now as i had seen the BAPs that the CF have and there worse than our own one and thats bad.

Also good the see the tanks out there giving support.

Are you not issued the carry handle on your C7's and C8's?

Nope. Our C8's and C7's come issued with Elcan optics. Most guys don't even get issued the back-up sights for the rifle. it is just recently (last 5 years or so AFAIK) that we have been issued Eotechs ect and then only guys on deployment and mostly to combat arms only.

Sig P226 are issued to MPs and that is this guys trade. The rest of the forces are issued Inglis Browning Hi-Powers.

Roy Batty
12-15-2006, 02:12 PM
Some are but most are'nt. The one I was issued in Afghanistan in 2003 was new out of war stocks. It was still packed with the red grease from the manufacturer. The one I have issued to me now is ancient and rattles like a chain gang.

So any news on when your getting new pistols for the Army.

In the new year we are getting the HK USP 9mm as our new side arm about time to.

Roy Batty

No real major rumors yet. The forces have been on a bit of a spending spree so it might be awhile although Lord knows we could use them.

Well good for them! At least they are getting good equipment. Ever since 1 of the IED failed to penetrate the Nyalah's, I have increased confidence in them. What u think Sig? And I have heard that quite a few CF troops are not very fond of the Elcan sights because of mounting problems?

PS: My country is buying Leopard C2's from Germany! WOOT! :)

been hearing the opposite from the boys out there about the nyalah's, they're not liking them for various reasons.
who the heck do I see about getting pics approved to post anyways? my room mate sent me just under a hundred, but in reality I think *maybe* a dozen or so wouldn't breech opsec in some shape or form.

Are the Browning Hi-Powers new?

The Hi-Powers are mostly WWII vintage. The one I had for a while was stamped Inglis Ltd 1944!

Hey Sig,

So do the CF troops heading off into the sandbox pretty much have an "open-ticket" to purchase whatever LBV/Plate Carrier/Chest Rig that they want as long as they pay for it out of their own pocket?? Obviously the issued vest is ass and was designed by a guy who never spent a day in the field, but do they let you wear pretty much whatever you want when in combat?

After all, it's your ass on the line and your money! How could they object....(I know, I know, it's the CFs)

Thanks in advance and thanks for the great pics!

On my first tour there in 2004 with ISAF in Kabul we had to wear absolutely everything issue. When I was there from Jan 06 to Aug 06 in Kandahar, after our first fire fight the regulations were pretty much forgoten, we all started buying our own tac vests, some fights at the end of the tour in Panjwai and Helmand we had guys going in with upwards of 15 mags, or as much as they could carry and still having to reload during the fight. They aren't picky about what we wear there, because what is issued was meant for Bosnia tours where you aren't going to shoot, and I don't mean early Bosnia tours, I mean roto 4 and up things were a lot quieter and our army went stupid for about ten years during that phase.

well the rsm before he was killed, his rules were 'if it's tan wear em (boots), if it says your life use it (for vests)'
like always, depends on the coc. my room mate, the only way you could tell he was carrying around a diemaco c8 is the engraving on the side, everything exterior has been replaced.

In reference to the "leopard C2s from Germany" comment, that is either a typo or bad rumour passing. We currently have Leo C2s from Germany and rrumours have been that Canada MIGHT look into getting some Leopard 2s in the near future. RUMOURS.

Man We used some old Brownings back in the 80's back then. Not to mention the old Carl G's that were used in Korea. ( Do you still use them?) We used to trade, swap, a pay for American and Brit kit. You guys are lucky to have what you have now. We had ****e back then. Best kit I had was my para smock. and a great raincout from the US Army. Ohh and a superb pair of Danner Ft Lewis Go Devils.

I am soooo Jealous of some of your kit now.

Germany has Leo 2A4s and 5s stationed in Canada. And because we got way more than we need and the base contract with the Canadians runs out, the German government has offered the Leos for sale. So we wouldn't need to ship them back to Germany.

The ball is in Canadas field now:)

In the design of anything, people will produce dozens of variations that do an adequate job, but out of all the variations, one design will hit a "sweet spot" where elements are combined just so to produce something outstanding. In the world of cammo design, Cadpat AR hits that sweetspot. The colours, their distribution and proportions, are perfect for the environment. It is the most amazingly effective cammo I've ever seen.

Canadian Sig are you allowed to carry your own sidearm when you are deployed or is that not allowed?

Gunz76

No, we are not allowed to carry our own personal side arms unfortunately. Mind yo some guys would be taking things to extremes if we could. That being said it wouldn't be a bad idea provided it was the same standard ammo. We ask but they say no:-(

Sig,

I have the vest that the second guy from the front is wearing, proudly made right here in Pet. The gentleman who makes them is incredibly talented and does alot of work for different units up here. The stuff is 100% guaranteed and you don't have to ship back to the states or God knows where to get repairs he does them on the spot. If you find yourself needing something like this or if any body reading this thread should need anything PM me and i can set you up with the guy. It's very reasonably price for custom made kit madhttp://img263.imageshack.us/img263/2691/loadingpistol370rh6.jpge to fit.

I would hazard to guess you're right since I probably have the same holster on a drop leg. If you know of any one who needs this stuff spread the news. This guy is awesome and all for the troops and I would like to help this guy out as much as possible. Good quality at a great price and it's custom work.
