As for sites in/around cities, Shalamar Gardens (UNESCO protected) 200 rupees for Gora and 15 for locals. Lahore Fort isn't very well preserved but still neat. Faisal Mosque definitely (ISI may approach as locals and ask for picture, you may also be approached and questioned on the street). There's a Gurudwara in Hasan Abdel that is very friendly to visitors, and outside the doors down the street is a Muslim underground shrine as well. You can contact the Gurudwara ahead of time, http://www.sikhtourism.com/pakistan-gurudwara.htm I wont ask why you were suspended.
Sorry it took me so long to reply. Lol that's actually ****in hilarious to me because my dad would print out the Canadian Foreign Affairs travel warnings as well. Also agreed, to travel and constantly be talking to friends back home is a bit of a waste, I only used mine to keep in touch with the gf. (which was more useful than you think, you'll figure it out while you're there) To be honest I didn't go out into the country side much, once to visit a small village where one of the families grandmother was buried. (was neat, they covered the mound with flower petals). And to visit an old Buddhist shrine and ancient Greek settlement. I wish I could give you the locations but i've forgotten.
