I finally got Koning van Katoren- really great read, great subtexts and implementation of these in a book for a younger audience. I can now imagine why this book left such an impact on you. Thanks very much for that recommendation, I really enjoyed it. The woman at the bookstore told me that they are going to make a film of it and also that there is also a sequel to this book.

Hi Prion, I have read quite a number of books in Dutch- mostly in my youth.
I am familiar with Koning van Katoren because I have read another of Jan Terlouw's books when I was younger- Oorlogswinter. I love this book as well, but a list of 5 is very difficult - I just choose the first five that came to mind. Thanks for the recommendation I will see if I can a copy when I am in Europe.
