From what I understand they were heavily laden with grease.
Got a Naval related question and figured you might have the answer. On the old Subs in WWII the guns ( 20mm Oerlikons and 40mm Bofors and 3-4" QF ) stayed mounted when submersed. Were they Stainless Steel or some special protection or loaded with buckets of grease to keep corrosion off them? I figure the deck cannon has a tampion muzzle cover, but the auto cannons had lots of small parts.
bd popeye how ya doing man? trust all is good. getting older as we all are eh? still working that job? hang loose.
Was looking through the sea stories, read one of your replies, the one about choosing our own paths in life...really inspiring and truthful stuff bd popeye. Keep up the good work
