Got a Naval related question and figured you might have the answer. On the old Subs in WWII the guns ( 20mm Oerlikons and 40mm Bofors and 3-4" QF ) stayed mounted when submersed. Were they Stainless Steel or some special protection or loaded with buckets of grease to keep corrosion off them? I figure the deck cannon has a tampion muzzle cover, but the auto cannons had lots of small parts.
