Congrats and Good luck! You can do it, but I'll keep my fingers crossed anyway :)
Well...going to Ranger now...hate it, give it a go. If I make it through Pre-Ranger good god I'll give that ***** everything I have.
Buddy of mine finds it so funny that both sides are using this tragedy for their argument and I see it here...I'm trying to be level headed and getting shouted at and being called an idiot.
Excellent that you are going Cav. It is a whole different animal from the rest of the Army, especially among the 19D's. And I know how the IN treats the Cav/Scouts from my experience in the Mech Infantry world. I was always getting chewed out as the Platoon Daddy, but oddly enough, we had higher scores in everything from PT to weapons, ran their ranges, caught more bad guys and contraband in Kosovo, etc.. Heck, we even ran most of their EIB, and of course many actually "ran it" as candidates for all the good it did.
And no, the Stryker just isn't it. I think it is under gunned to start with, and too large.
As I find myself at Ft Benning learning to become a Cav officer, you can we're basically not wanted here to an extent, with the idea that IN Officers that command Squadrons are pushing Ranger School...I'm going to an IBCT and an IN officer took command of my squadron last year. Sent an email saying don't hurry if it's at the expense of Ranger School...and I'm like no thanks. But for a fact I know the Stryker isn't the thing, and the HMMWV isn't either...seems to be no plans to get the heavy CAV something heavy enough to defend itself so it can scoot and nothing at all for light CAV. I better find some horses.
Explain to me why i can't have a decent recce vehicle?
I signed enlistment papers shortly after that and all the rich friends I had said screw it I don't need the cash.
