Who do you think you are coming here telling us Russians what we need or don't need? Perhaps when criminals from the 'Stans and Caucasus start coming into The Netherlands and causing hell you might finally wake up.
"Cossacks" are not some "magicaal people". They are regular Russians, they were always allowed to serve in Soviet/Russian armed forces. As for the specially named "Cossack" units (there is only one remaining currently, 247th "Cossack" Air Assault Regiment), these are mostly designations of honor, for units which are located in the south of Russia. They are staffed by pretty much everyone equally, not just servicemen of Cossack traditions. If you want to know more and can read Russian, there is a informative discussion here: http://desantura.ru/forum/forum13/topic13001/
Thanks........ Most people tend to think start foaming at the mouth thinking is a pro-soviet thing and then go off on a rant.....its just a funny pic.....i liked it.....i bought a t-shirt in Budapest with the same logo.....
Project 885 is going to replace both Akula (pr. 971) and Oscar (pr. 949). I don't think there is going to be a dedicated hunter-killer submarine. Even Americans have transitioned from pure hunter-killers (Los Angeles) to mixed cruise missile/attack submarine (Virginia). Severodvinsk is a submarine in the same mold as Virginia.
Strictly speaking, there is not Amur submarine per se. The construction of the first hull has been suspended due to lack of interest from foreign navies. Everyone still wants the proven Kilo.
There is no Amur-1850. Rubin design bureau only lists the 950 and 1650 versions. http://www.ckb-rubin.ru/eng/project/submarine/noatompl/index.htm In fact, the only place that mentions an 1850 ton Amur is Wikipedia. Without any sources for the data. So I am going to go on a limb and say that the thing doesn't exit.
Amur-1650 only has torpedo tubes. Amur-950 has vertical launchers. http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/9868/1001652t.jpg http://img41.imageshack.us/img41/3369/1001655v.jpg
I certainly do have some stories, some of them are very personal, others--well, I might post some eventually.
I can post only as the relevant topics appear and when I have time. Today I have time but no relevant topic on Navy:) I don't think that my naval experiences are particularly interesting.
Sometimes i think that my own country's politicians, don't act in a way thats in the best interests of the Finnish people.I don't put much faith in the leftist and green parties here in Finland, they're goals don't necessarily match with those of the people.
