  1. LOL I hear you; I have no idea what happened to my raincoat or my dress leather gloves after A-school.

Also being on a submarine (uniform regs much more lax, no seabag inspections, etc) we took things a step further; not only would we barter uniform articles for inspections; we would do hot turnovers of our dress white jumpers for the topside watch. The reason was that the kapok and the .45cal lanyard would wreck the jumpers fast, so instead of everybody's getting ruined, one would be turned over with the watch. As guys' enlistments expired they'd donate a jumper on their way out.

As long as nobody was either a fatass or super-skinny, you could have the same IC3 or MM2 jumper worn for six or seven consecutive watches by different people.
  2. talk about losin' uniform items, we had a seabag inspection in berthing. two guys (other than me) were inspected with my neckerchief, 4 with my necktie, and I was one of 7 inspected with the same guy's crew-neck sweater. (threw mine away after boot camp. hate that thing).

I managed to lose my raincoat at some point last year or so. I have no idea how, since I had it with me almost all the time.
