Hey mate! I'm traveling at the moment. Maybe check with Ngati while I'm gone? He may need to be quick. I'm getting the feeling that the overseas recruiting is going to have the door partially or fully shut. Just my 0.02c

Hi Flagg - dunno if you can help or not. I've got a mate who is thinking of txfr to NZDF from the UK. He's a tech sergeant and wants to know what the roughly equivalent pay scale is over. The only NZDF pay scale I've managed to pull out is the RNZN one which is not really whats needed. Any idea if theres a link on the web or not ?
    many thanks

Diesel's just a buck or so a litre here(plus road user tax per K), petrol is $1.63.

The key is not just farming....but farming with world class efficiency...THAT's the money printing press that Jim Rogers and others are kinda referring to...easier said than done...but TRULY POSSIBLE......in the next few years I would rather be milking cows, mining gold, or drilling oil........printing paper is not going to be as profitable going forward.

On the upside, diesel now costs less than petrol. I somehow doubt farmers will reap the benefits though.

Absolutely......farmers always have been, and likely always will be price takers rather than price makers. While we've seen a period of unprecedented commodity price volatility, moving forward it is VERY safe to say that at these levels commodity prices are far more likely to rise(possibly quite significantly) in the coming years largely due to extreme financial and monetary stupidity. It's basically a "least bad" type of option.

Meh, we have a farm, im a tad sad that we sold our cattle off, but i may go back to it at some stage. The US subsidies and their removal (in part or full) will shift the focus away from the US as the worlds leader, to other countries that are efficient without subsidies.

The bigger issue facing the farmers in our neck of the woods, is the stranglehold of the supermarkets rather than the farmer being able to determine prices.
