"Nice" compilation of nasties. Wonder how it did get out on the internet.
It´s difficult to prepare oneself mentally to all or certain situations. Laws of the "House of God" (a novel by Samuel Shem) apply: Law number IV: THE PATIENT IS THE ONE WITH THE DISEASE.
Later on it is tunnel vision and you wouldn´t even notice your "troubled mind".

I recently found this wound dressing in the bottom of a pack. It says it expired in 08. Is this dressing safe to use, or should it be scrapped and used as a training aid? The packaging is in good condition and not opened. My understanding is that if it is expired it is not sterile, but still clean.

Short answer, It should be replaced if it's out of date.

An expiry date for a wound dressing (or any other products) is a guarantee by the manufacturer for a safe use until that specified date. If anything happens after that, you are liable. If it looks (smells, feels) ok it might get used for training purposes. If any doubts, bin it.
