Don't tell me it's real, are they all KIA? What about injuries? Thats a huge number out of nowhere.
RIP to fallen
And speedy recovery to injured.
local MVD fucked up royally on this one. went into pursuit of a small group of militants that led them into perfectly executed ambush. no survivors. hence the KIA figure.
after that, of course, lot of forces was thrown into manhunt.

Shootings, bombings and raids take place nearly every day in Chechnya, Karbadino, Ingushetia and mainly in Dagestan. It's the Russian front against the islamic extremism. Additionally to the local clans it's merely a struggle on who rules their republic. The situation in Chechnya used to be quite calm though.

Seems this is correct - 17 KIA and 24 WIA of the MVD
It's a universal sign for any part of the land. SOmetimes accompanied with russian version - white rectangular [СТОП]. Same with "customs" warning signs and such.

Even if the killed policemen were Chechen they are Russian too. Chechens are Russians. I don't see a reason to separate Chechens from the rest of the Russians.

The problem is the translation "Russian" for "russkiy" AND "rossiyskiy".
