For example because 8 points are more than 40 years old.
It doesn't represent current level of abilities.
In case of Russia-main question is the fundings.
My point was not intended at questioning russian capabilities but rather a comparison between US space program vs rest.
The high failure rate shows that russia still has to master a large chunk of technology related to mars mission. cost effective frugal engineering can work in earth but not in space. If you can afford the mars program, only then proceed with it otherwise don't.The mission would require you to invest a large % of your GDP on it
Going to mars is not like going to LEO.Firstly it would cost no less than a 1 trillion $ ,that means only USA,CHINA,EU,RUSSIA and INDIA can afford it in 2030.
Also the technology for the mission is extremely complex and still under development.I propose a joint mission to mars by all the 5 space powers.
That would be the optimal solution, but what are the chances of it happening?
Another idea, why not start a UN funded space program, bringing the resorces of 193 countries together for the benefit of the entire human race!
Can Chavez be the one who goes? Preferably with a one way rocket.
Mars is red so it works out perfectly!

This won't be happening until people associate national pride with space exploration.
Pride goes before the fall and makes fools of us all. In other headlines, Huggy C. is campaigning, see the C.H.A.R. (Chavez Hot Air Rocket) fly.
Get yo azz to Maaars.
I'm sure mr. Chavez has a close affinity with Mars, judging by his appearence he unwraps a few each day.

The guy is clearly daydreaming,he is neither aware of the complexities involved or the money required for the project.
havent read anything about this on venezuelan media, the second sattelite thing yes but not the mars thing
Venezuela can start with building a TECHNODROME .....
That's more like it.

Mr. Chavez thinks it's simple because he's been playing KSP for a week straight. :D
