Kopaska is the Navy Special Force, close to USN SEAL, for unconventional warfares. However, Kopaska is not really a CT unit. A CT unit under the Navy is called Denjaka, close to the SEAL Team-Six. >90% of Denjaka operators are from Marines, the rest are sailors.
Kopassus is the Army Special Force, close to the famous USAr Green Beret. Within Kopassus there is a CT unit called Satgultor, which is very close to the famous USAr Delta Force. Majority of Kopassus are not related to CT, but yes Satgultor images are dominant on TV & internet. In Aceh theatre some years ago, Kopassus was more involved in conventional infantry type operations, together with other Army units.
Taifib (now is called Kipam) is a small "elite" unit under Marines. The unit was created initialy for amphibious/beach recon. It's not a CT unit nor under water demolition unit. However, majority of Denjaka operators are recruited from Taifib.
To make the story gets more complicated, the Army has a similar Taifib unit called Tontaipur, under Kostrad. Within Tontaipur there is a small CT unit called Gultor. There is also a company size CT unit under each Army Raider batalion, same common name: Gultor.
Korpaskhas is the Air Force Special Force. Within Korpaskhas, there is a CT unit called Den-Bravo.
The Police don't want to get behind. They have their own Special Force called Gegana, which the operators are mainly recruited from Brimob (Paramilitary Police). The Police CT unit is called Den88AT.
As I have said, some people has incorrect answers to your question whether they realize it or not.[/QUOTE]
Not entirely correct, KOPASKA is a bonafide CT unit and CT is part of their official tasking and the main difference between them and DENJAKA is that KOPASKA is attached to either of the navy terratorial commands (KOARMABAR and KOARMATIM) whilst Denjaka is centrally controlled under the Panglima TNI (Admin and Log: DANKORMAR, Training and Coord: BAIS) and only the Panglima can activate DENJAKA.
Besides CT, KOPASKA is also tasked with other UDT/SEAL type taskings such as beach recon, combat hydrographic survey etc. They are also tasked with VIP protection duties, many times working along side PASPAMPRES
DENJAKA however, is designated as the primary CT unit for the Navy and almost fully concentrates on that alone.
Regarding TAIFIB, you are a bit incorrect in that it used to be called KIPAM up untill the late 90's but now its official designation is YONTAIFIB. There are two yon's and each of them is attached to either PASMAR 1/ PASMAR 2
so which one is true?
huh? I'm getting confused here...

for nowadays KOPASKA has been improved to be a CT unit
a litle confiusing maybe couse all unit in TNI had a special force wich simmilar whit other Unit .

On this page mate.
I wouldnt say TNI has to many Special Operation Forces (SOF), its just unlike USSOCOM, our units were not built for interoperability and does not have a central chain of command. Thus turf wars and toe stepping quite often occurs.
USSOCOM for example, has all branches of service under their command, and most branches has two or more representative:
USAFSOC: Provides air transport capability for USSOCOM through several air wings
USASOC: Rangers (light infantry), SF (FID, UW), 160th SOAR (Rotary Wing Transport), 4th POG (Physcological Ops), 95th CAB (Civil Affairs) etc
USNAVSOC: SEALs (DA, UW, etc), SDV (Underwater Delivery), SWCC (Riverine and Small Craft)
USMARSOC: MSOB (DA), MSOAG (MTT, FID), Support Group, and Special Ops School
USJSOC: Handles special missions for SOCOM with units such as CAG, DEVGRU, AF STS, and ISA
As you can see, there are a plethora of units within the US SOCOM but each are tasked with different taskings and dilineation of AoR is quite clear.
Perhaps Indonesia should move towards that direction so there isnt much pissing contest going around.
thank you... i've got the point here now. so much different infos but don't worry i understand it already :D

Thanks for the correction.
Kopaska; I would say, it's a Navy frogmen unit with additional/improved CT capabilities & VIP protection function. The official Navy CT unit is Denjaka, that's it. As you said, they need TNI Chief's approval to unleash Denjaka which would be too procedural & lots of politic would get involved, such as: why Denjaka, why not Satgultor Kopassus, need approval from different brass desks before arriving on the Chief's desk, etc. Whereas Kopaska is more available on both Navy Fleets & they can be deployed faster within Navy itself without having to be approved by the Panglima TNI.
Paspampres has been always a mixture of TNI Elite Units, including Kopaska, Kopassus, Marines, etc.
Taifib; it should have been written "was called Kipam".
Talking about Indonesian "Commando" has been always exhausting. There are too many of them & confusing many people...
... ;-) :d :) ...

Correct. TNI must have a SOCOM, headed by a three-star general from whichever service, reporting directly to Panglima TNI.
TNI have TOO MANY Special Operations Capability Forces, require unnecessarily huge budget. Many of them have overlapping job descs & areas.
how come there are too many special forces in TNI?

1. Corps ego.
2. Impotent TNI Chief.
