Can anyone ID the MANPADS used here? The battery housing indicates it is a SA-7 based weapon, but it looks too new to be a SA-7. My best guess is its a Pakistani Anza Mk 1, but it can also be the Chinese HN-5, Egyptian Sakr-Eye or former Yugoslav Strela 2M/A. It is definitely not SA-14/16/18, QW-1/2/3 or an American/European system.
Does anyone have info on types & quantities of MANPADS in Indonesia? I've heard about Mistral, SA-7, RBS-70 (17?), QW-3...

[/I]I think it looks like the Chinese QW-3. There was a picture of Indonesian SEAL (Kopaska) with it some times ago in this thread. Having said that, I am not 100% sure. Indonesia is like a heaven for arms bazaar in the past few years, especially small arms.

It astonishes me that people admire KOPASSUS, because they are "special forces".
Are you people forgetting all the terrible things they have done?
They are nothing but thugs and murderers.
And don't accuse me of trying to start a flame war, because it's true and you bloody well know it.
Yes but no need to say it on this.
saying like what you said will get you banned. :bash:

Is there a more polite way of telling people KOPASSUS has murdered and tortured innocent civilians?

You can say that KOPASSUS has been involved in human rights violations. That's a better way IMO.
Side note, nice job to Indonesian users for the Pindad weapons. Am interested with the 2006/7 unveiling of the SM-3 LMG and the SS-2000 bullpup rifle.

I really don't understand why it matters.
Why should I rewrite what I said?
People are allowed to write bad things about terrorist and criminal organisations on this message board - but not KOPASSUS?
People need to open their eyes and realise what the Indonesian government and KOPASSUS does.

I, for one thing, do not like the things that KOPASSUS did for instance against the East Timorese and the Papuans.
Saying that they were involved in human rights violations is a big eye openers for those who don't know what's happening in Indonesia.
Just don't try to bash them too much. It'll make them sound like everyone in the gov't and KOPASSUS are evil.
Okay! I'm not doing to debate further. I usually hate that part and don't want to get involved. Good day to you.

killing civilian you said. almost every soldier in the world done that. what about America in the vietnam?? the USAF also bomb an iraqi civilian married party... the USS vincenes shot down iranian civil aircraft... what about israel has done to palistinian?? what about myanmar?? you know westerling?? he killed more then 400 civilian in south sulawesi... etc-etc. Did they evil?? you named it??!!!
in east Timor, not only KOPASSUS done terrible think. the FRETILIN also done that. even XANANA it self... they killed civilian, and hang their head...
in ACEH, my friend (he is civilian, like me) get killed by GAM (FREE ACEH MOVEMENT). a shot in the head, because he refuse to pay NANGROE TAX..
are they evil?? why does you guys in the western country only look at KOPASSUS??
I Admire kopassus because their ability and fighting spirit... KOPASSUS are not best equiped, but they are one of the best SF in the world. they have faced so many battle, hijacking (WOYLA 1981), and hostage situation (MAPENDUMA 1996).. KOPASSUS are battle proven!!! thats why so many SF in the world try to have join exercise with them. US NAVY SEAL and GREEN BERET for example...
but kopassus also a human and soldier. some times they make mistake. for a soldier, if you dont do what your commander said, they called you un-patriotic...
so please dont judge somebody or someone by your own perspective...!!!
this also answer your question in thread special forces pics...
i dont want to start a fight with you. good day for you...

Of course there are civilian casualties in every war, and as sad as it is, it is something that will always happen.
But there is a big difference between civilians getting caught in the crossfire and civilians getting kidnapped and murdered or taken to KOPASSUS torture camps.
Right now as we type messages on this forum, the Indonesian government is doing terrible things to the people of Papua.
If the Green Berets, SEALs, or SASR need to brush up on skills like torture and terrorising civilians they'll know who to go to.

Cool man, take it easy... There must be something that make them so brutal. I heart they're treated like animals when having their recruiting training. So, maybe that's why they are so cold-blooded soldiers. Their sergeant had done such things (torture them); So, no wonder every recruiting process, couples of them lost their lives. Otherwise, I thing it's a good thing to have it if you're a soldier. It makes you not fear of anything, included death and pain.
