No need to apologize dude. And yes we are cool. The whole point of this is for all of us to enjoy this great thread on a great military arm of a great country. And to occasionally discuss some nice hypothetical situations. Keep it coming!!

cual es el miedo de mexico en armarce. We have no allies in the world what so ever. That is why we should revamp our military into the twenty first century what do we have to lose.

No one likes us and every one hates and want our lands lets be like our ancestors and fight that is the way or our culture are we mexicans or cowards.

That is how the world sees our culture and country as a joke does any one remember that game they played in big brother australia if that didnt piss you off by what they think of us then i dont no what would.

Those hundred 412 hueys is a good start but we need several hundred more. If the country cant have attack helos at least they can have the proper numbers of helicopters to defend and transport our troops in case of a war.

its not about the show its how the world sees us as a whole im in the US as well but i am a mexican and will always identify myself as only mexican and not an american. I would gladly defect to the mexican army if the US ever attacked mexico in any form at all. I am not committed to the goverment only to my homeland of my kind and our people.

That is why i always put up the idea of mexico arming it self with better tech than they have at the moment we need to show what we are mexicans.

So please, dont be so arrogant as to think that you have all of the answers or know about everything. I would bet that I can jump in a Lancair and show you what a real aircraft is!

well we have things in common.I consider my self Mexican but legally i'm mexican american and i am prode to be.Because Mexican americans have done alot and still retained there culture like me.I am going to join the marines just like my brother, not to server the goverment but rather the country the US has gave alot to mexican americans and i am thankful but on the other hand the government has treated us like dirt alot of times thats why i respect the land but not the government.I too would defect.
But on te big brother issue i know it wasnt bout the show but the way they showed it and yes let them see us like that but you know what never underestimate mexicans!! cause if the need arises we can get to the top or pretty damn close.which we already are besides the military

Who is Mexico going to fight with?? USA? No chance against those guys... and No reason to fight either, whos left? The central American nations that share borders with Mexico dont have a chance if there is a war. There isnt really a need to make serious military expenditures, Mexican authorities should focus instead on fighting crime and the flow of drugs.

But whatever... Im just a Venezuelan dude that lives in the US.

i am proud to say mexico is not a back wards nation like the rest of the world we have managed to keep our country together and avoided lots of crap like the rest of the world our nation is not perfect but i rather be mexican than any other people in the world.

Be for warned one day we will be a first world country no matter what any one thinks of mexico even the self hateing mexicans should not underestimate our people we are truly one kind and we are a race in my eyes no matter if were short and brown or tall and light skined we are mexicans.

mexico must do something at least to produce there own missiles or something in the army. Mexican army does it have any self propelled artillery like the paladin m 109.

Well Guarandol, Canada is in the same shoes as we are and they certainly have a much better armed military than we do. Who is going to attack them, polar bears? Why should we rely on the US for our defense, when no other country in the world has invaded us as much as them in the past. I realize that we are not at war with them (they are our principal business partner) or anyone else at the time, and that we have no immediate threat to deal with at the present, but as I said before, usually by the time that a threat is immediate, it is already to late to prepare for it. Our country and our military has the obligation to have at least a minimal level of preparation against any eventuality. Another reason why we shouldn't place all our bets on the idea that the US will come to our aid under any circumstance is that there is no reason to believe that they will, and that it will depend on whether it is in their interests at the moment or not. Should we then keep our fingers crossed? Remember, Argentina had a defense agreement with the US and the US gave them the finger when it came to choosing sides back in '82.
    Anyway Guarandol, bienvenido.

Come on gentlemen, let's get back on topic here, shall we? I do have one question regarding the FAM's heavy lift capabilities, concerning their helicopters. Since they only have one serviceable Mi-26 Halo out of the original two, plus the four CH-53's that were recently purchased, it seems to me that while buying the four Sea Stallions is somewhat of a step in the right direction, exactly how many hours remain on the aircraft? It just wouldn't be worth the investment if they were only good for 2,000 hours. Are they eyeing anything in particular to augment the CH-53s, besides the possibility of buying more CH-53s from Israel?
