this thread has really grown.
Some excellent images here, I collect this stuff so it has given my CSLA sweet tooth that "sweet sickness" hit for the day, I dig the "Sun flower "Camouflage as we sometimes call it in the UK, a suit of that with the correct scale of issue to match would float my boat!.
There is much good work to be done here.
The Soviet soldier in this photo is wearing pre-1969 parade uniform... I think its the 58 pattern, could be wrong. However it does place this photo at 1969 at the very latest, probably pre-1969 as this is a top rated propaganda shot.
I love the "fraternal brotherhood" photos, so posed but oh so good!
Here's a few more "WP brotherhood" pics.
Nice Bob!
The one on the left you can see a badge they are all wearing, thats a joint exercise badge - one was issued for each of the major WP joint exercises and given to all troops taking part. Only worn during the glitzy part of the exercise and never again.
The badge in this pic ID's this as the 1970 joint exercise held in the DDR known as "Brothers in Arms 1970" or ""Waffenbruderschaft 1970"
The joint exercise badges are rather nice looking collectibles actually![]()
I like this photo.
Thanks again friend!
Man, all you guys sure know your stuff!!
Thanks for all the information!
Now, this picture below, I have been needing help with (as well as the patch, from my collection).
Does anybody know the time frame of this picture I found this pic quite a few years ago when I got the patch, maybe 6 years ago or more. Time frame, type of unit, patch, or any other info? All I know if they are polish special forces. The pants and one guys shirt are the current pattern, but when did that first come out?
I think the pic is from the 90s
Thats an interesting picture of those Soviet troops Smersh!
Never seen insignia worn on the KZS cammouflage oversuit before!
The man kneeling in the winter parka also has a strange selection of patches too (one on the chest, one on the arm). Never seen that before either...
Romanian naval infantry type unit?
Just found out these guys are training and patroling the river Danube that borders romania and Yugoslavia.
