40 years of the RPG-7
![]()
Looking good.Any on the Metis-M or Kornet-E.
why is it that the RPG-7(upgrades) continue to have higher penetration capability then the RPG-18, 22, and 26. Why have all these different launchers if the older RPG-7 out performs them at least in penetration. Whats the advantage of the newer RPG models?
Perhaps also because the RPG-7 is so highly proliferated that it pays off to develop new RPG-7 rounds than develop new rounds for the other models?
The RPG-29 has the greatest penetration (over 750mm) capability of them all. The 27 is the next in capability (600mm).
The 18,22 and 26 are compact, disposable and easy to store.
The RPG-7 is simple, robust and still very effective (with the new rounds). That's why it's still in production since its introduction 40 years ago.
