    all part of the SSF...
It was worn by both the Airborne regiment and then 1RCR as the SSF. Which included of course all the supporting units within the Battle Group.
The smock itself was at least in the Airborne worn more by the Non Infantry types. It was kind of a novelty, which is always exploited more by those who think they have something to prove. THe only other place you could find it, post SSF was at the CPC of course that ended too with the introduction of CADPAT.

because I would ridicule him and throw anything that I can get my hands on across the hall anytime I see him walk out of sigs platoon.
I think that's a straight laced answer of why he wouldn't dare do such a thing :P

Default Found this thread, figured i'd add a few pics...

THought i'd contribute a few pics to the thread, many were lost over time, but still have a few from my days in Mogadishu when our section had been attached to the EOD element of the 10th Mountain Division. We were attached to the battle group from 1RCR as a mortar platoon, but no sooner did we land that our mortars were packed away and our platoon dispersed to 2 corners of the country, maintaining a role of mechanized QRF. The Mogadishu portion had a section maintaining embassy security, while ours maintained inner city convoy security and US assistance.

Default And a few more pics to compliment the others

Also added 2 pics of my modern vocation as an Ironworker, not quite in the military theme, but it stresses that some of us really only find peace while standing on a 6" beam a few hundred feet up in the air after multiple tours hehe.

Default Quick question i reference to the first pictures in thread

It pains me to ask brothers, but my recollection is hazy and I had not yet arrived to Bellet-uen from the city when it occured... But is the destroyed hummer and the one shown below from the SF team the one and the same? It pained me to have heard about the landmine, many of the lads in the platoon had gotten to know them well before it happened. -Cheers

    Very beautiful and interesting thread.
    Thank you.

To return on this very interesting picture.
With the foreground, like at the bottom in the center, one sees destroyed FV4017 CENTURION.

For the others, the picture is too small.
I do not see what it is.

    Hey guys. Got a question...

I understand the Candadian Airborne is no more. Disbanded in 1995 I believe. While searching around I found a few recently taken pics of Canadian paras such as the one below. dated 2007. Can anyone clear this up for me? Thanks in advance.

    Yup,

The CF has 3 Conventional Infantry Regiments now.
Each Regiment had/has a Light Battlaion within those Regiments.
Each light Battalion has a "Jump Company" within the Battalions
Those soldiers are entitled to wear the Maroon Beret, but wear the Cap Badge of their Regiment.

Also Soldiers serving at the Canadian Parachute Center, which is now the land advanced warfare center or something like that are allowed to wear it.

Canadians have a great military force from what I've seen. I hate all this for you guys. I'm not condoning what happend but that was a bit too much - doing away w/your airborne as stated before in this thread.

No, it's not hidden, the Jump Companies are still designated units within the battalions, it's just that each regiment has it's own, instead of them all being together.
