You could join the Air force or coast gaurd....just kidding. What MOS to you intend to join under?

If you recruiter asks you to lie about this and you join and down the road you have an asthma attack, they will know it was a preexisting condition, unless it happen at the same time a being blown up. If they find out you lied, you can be had under the UCMJ for unlawful entry into the military, which might ended up with you getting an other than Honorably discharge or General discharge, be honest, get a doctors note and try to get a wavier, it the best way to go. be honest and Integrity is an Army value, and having it makes you a better person.
I agree its better to up front in the first place. If you can get a waiver great, but if not you know you tried.
About 5 years after I got out of the Marines, I decided to join the KY National Guard. It was a walk in the park, no boots for prior service, but while I was @ MEPS, the doc found out I had Hyperthyroidism (Overactivity of the Thyroid Gland)
I got a med wavier, but they limited my MOS selections to Ammo Tech or MP.
If you don't have paperwork to prove you're 100% fine then don't say it. While at MEPS back in December i saw some dumb kid telling the USMC liaison that when he was like 4 years old he had to see a counselor for bad behavior once, he had no paperwork for that, nothing to show wtf happened there. What happened to him? they wrote it down on his papers and got DQ.
everybody here is pretty much saying dont say a f****** thing, am I correct? Just keep my mouth shut, i can do that. Honestly there is nothing that is wrong with me right now, so why should i mention it if it's no a problem to me or anyone else correct?
You can either try the waiver route or roll the dice.
Waivers can take an ungodly long time to process. Whole process for me took about nine months before they let me swear in. I had to get a psych waiver though, and not a physical one. Still, it was a pain in the ass. You need paperwork from your doctor and then it goes down to the Pentagon and goes through God knows how many offices.. It covers your ass, but it could take a long time to process and it could end up disqualifying you.
Or you could lie.. If you can run enough now without having any problems (and I dont mean just jogging for 15 min, but go out and run for an hour straight) then maybe you just might wanna keep it to yourself. I had childhood asthma, never disclosed it, and now serve without problems. Depends on your MOS too - if you're gonna be a desk jockey like me, I wouldnt worry about it so much. If you want a combat MOS, you might wanna think about it more.. if you start dying out there on a formation run and they look at your medical records and see you didn't disclose your true med history, you're in a 'world of ****'..
Either way, it's your decision and your career.
If you have seen a doc for it and its documented they will be able to find it sealed documents dont mean a thing when the military needs to run a background check. There is a high chance they wont look for it though which is what you would have to hope and rely on if you decide to lie.
well AS is like a wart that I burned off a long time ago...i do not have a 'problem' anymore nor will i ever have it again....docs said i would eventually just grow out of it since it was such a minor diagnosis, which i have.
Theres only one way to find out like i said before which is to go talk to a recruiter and by know means did my last post mean to sway you into lying.
hi.. everyone
ist happy to joint here....
my appologies if my english isn't good
thx![]()
lie, lie, lie and when they ask later lie. otherwise your looking at a possible NPQ (not physically qualified) or getting a ****-ton of paperwork regarding the specific problem. If you are 100% ok and can PT and have had no problems for a long time.... LIE
No freaking background check is going to include a search through confidential medical records. The government does not have legal access to it unless they convince a judge that they have probable cause. I don't consider this lying; it is withholding information that is none of their goddamn business.
The reason they are asking this is to cover their @sses in case something goes wrong. Unless you tell them or it involved the legal system, there is NO WAY in hell the military is going to find out about your juvenile mental health history. Period.
