Hello everyone, this is my first post here so I hope its good.
I have decided to join the Army but I have not yet enlisted. I want to go into the Airborne, or more specifically the 82nd Airborne. I am planning on going through infantry school before hand. What I want to know is what does boot camp consist of? What are the requirements to get into Airborne School? and finally what do you suggest for people like me who are alittle overweight (as in 5'9" about 200 lbs)?

You have to go to Basic and infantry school AIT before airborne. You'll probably go to Infantry OSUT (one stop unit training), which is basic and AIT combined into a 15 week course at Fort Benning. Heres a great link on day by day activities at Infantry OSUT- https://www.infantry.army.mil/itb/A%...rnal/index.htm I donno about requirements for airborne but regardless you should start getting in shape right away. When you walk into a recruiter, make sure you are specific on what you want. You can get infantry mos (11b/c/x) with airborne school i believe, but when you go to MEPS make sure you get it in ink on your enlistment contract. Thats the most important, getting what you want in writing. As far as getting a specific unit, i don't think you can choose or have a wishlist but i donno.

whats up guys, im goin to apply for the army and hopefully go into the infantry! would like to be in the air assualt! what sort of fittness do i need for this? also to be in the para's do i need to be a violent type of guy? alot of people say i wouldnt be able to serve in the army and i have to much of a conchunse (sp*) surely they would train me mentaly to be able to kill?!?!

I just told my parents that I wanted to enlist in the Marines, but I'm sure they saw it coming cause I was always interested in the military. Now, I just hammer it into their heads a few times a week.
