You get to fill out a 'dreamsheet' during your third year, where you can put on that list 6 jobs you want, best to start formulating it now. Now what jobs you can put on that list will vary due to many factors - health status (any precluding conditions), availability (how many allotted for Fiscal Year), academic background, and so on. Or, if you happen to be one of the oddball ones, the AF might just ignore your list, and toss you into an AFSC that they need you in.

    Whats up motivators lol

I'm finally in the school of infantry, been here for a week. Pretty good so far, already did the first hike (just a lil one 5k). Starting tomorrow we are going to be in the field all the time. I'm sure its going to get pretty hard later (the 15k hike and such) but seems we are going to have good fun.

Im in Bravo Co. and I think I'll go for the 0311 MOS.

    Thumbs up

Great to hear from you LH. Learn as much as you can from your troop handlers, and talk to them about their combat experiences. Also have fun while you can.

Like HM said, learn everything you can from these guys. You may not have the chance later once you get to your unit. Have a good time.

Today I took the plunge and Joined the US Army as a 15G I wanted 15T or 15U but all those have been filled. Anyone have any experience in that MOS or Army Aviation in general.
Any hints or tips for basic I am going to Ft. Leonard Wood in Jan.

    Thanks.

Yeah I'm definitely having fun. The first week in the field sucked and rocked at the same time. Looks like we have trench foot or something haha. It rained alot, and when it was not raining it was hot as fvck. Good training though (shooting like 500 rounds is always good!), tough but good. Im trying to decide between 0311 and 0352, there are like 24 slots for 52s in the company and we only have like 135 Marines so chances of getting it are decent. But then again 0311 is what I've wanted for a long time.

The 52's don't get used to much these days. While I was in Iraq they were acting as 11's.

I would stick to being an 0311 for a number of reasons. Later on your career (if you decide to stay) when it's time for you to re-enlist, speak with the career planner if it's possible to lateral to 0352. A few buddies took that route, and loved driving around rather then the wear and tear on their feet. Those guys always had a large icebox full of cold drinks or extra food that weren't MRE's. I hated them!

Hi guys. I'm going to MCRD San Diego for my reassignment surgery :P. I always felt like a Marine trapped in a civilian's body. It will be long 3 month procedure but I'm sure as most of you know, they're professionals over there, so I'm somewhat likely to survive. Bye guys. I'm coming back with my EGA... or on it. Somehow.

Default Question for any current Marine

I enlisted in the Marines at the beginning of July, and ship for Boot on June 15th (DEP), MOS- 0311, with 0321 option.
I had one question- Ive heard alot of nag about the MTV's in Iraq and Afghan. Can anyone explain to me why these are such hassles, as compared to the old OTV's?

It's going to be the same hassle and nag with every body armor
