So, apparently I have to wait for the next fiscal year to start to sign up, thanks to the GED. It's a little bit of a downer. Not discouraging, if anything it makes me want it more, but it kinda sucks.

Waiting sucks. And that's said with full knowledge that the unofficial motto of the military is "Hurry up and wait."

It sure is... even when you are past basic and tech school sometimes. Just wait until you have to deploy, then it's really hurry up and wait, of course by then most of us are used to it.

You cant wait until October 1st?

its actually better for you, youll get more jobs to choose from and will give you more time to study to get a 50 or better on the asvab which is what your minimum score is with the GED.

Way to go! Make sure to study that freggin thing, and enjoy riding the creature comforts of being a 0352. By the way, you may also have the opportunity of being assigned to a LAR unit that have TOW LAV's.

You need to be a citizen because of security clearances and all that. RSAF Careers FAQ

What role in the Air Force are you looking at? I think the best people to answer you would be the recruitment office.

Can't you join the Singapore Army if you hold PR and are in the process of applying for citizenship?

    Nope..

For regular service, it's citizens only. I haven't met any new citizens who have signed regular forms though, during my time in conscript service. I must say it's few and far between...

Is there any Foreign Air force where I can join as Pilot or any other career related to Military Aviation where I can get the taste of adventure?

And there is no gear guard in view.

In my day, our SOI instructor would've snatched all of the unsecured rifles and make us pay, bad.

Must be a new Corps. thing in this picture....

The 20k is a piece of cake compared to the rest for some reason. Just keep putting one fot in front of the other and keep a good mood and you'll be surprised how easy it is. I graduated from A Co. on the 2nd but i don't know how your instructors are so maybe you'll haveit harder or easier depending. But just so you know, you're going to get messed with a lot when you check in to your unit. Do what you're told, be motivated, and square yourself away and they'll spend more time teaching you than playing with you.

It's more on the lines of, "damn, my mind is made up. Let's do it.", than anything else.

It kinda made me step back and go, "OK, is this really what I want?" Which was good because the answer was, "Yup. Believe it or not, fella, it is."
Which is reassuring in an odd way. I actually have a better plan now than before, but even that is subject to the whims of the mighty military. I get the idea it's good to be adaptable in the armed forces, and I'm kinda good at that.

On a side note, everyone has been giving me one sentence advice, like, "Don't go to Iraq!" "Don't go infantry!", which is annoying, but peppered with decent advice like "Take every school you can."
