Do you have an account on leatherneck.com? That's you're BEST bet for info. That site is filled with Marines, Poolees and wannabes with lots of threads full of info, even Drill Instructors post there. You'll find info on how to survive boot camp, what to bring stuff like that.
Best of luck bro.
I enlisted 11x back in october and I ship 7-12-07, reading through alot of my questions were answered. When it gets time to leave Ill be asking for some tips.
I recently Joined the Army Reserves as a Infantry soldier. I'm almost done all my courses to become completely qualified, just need to do my BIQ/DP1. After high school I'll probably be going to college for 2 years or so, then transfer to the Regular Force. I was thinking of going Combat engineers after being in the Infantry for a bit, but I don't know yet.
This is a good site, I think younger people should get as much advice as they can get before joining. I have been in for 12 years now and don't regreat it a bit. I am in the Army as a medic so if anyone has questions related to that let me know.
Ive got a question about Army BCT
What does a normal day consist of? Is it all training or is it broken down to some training and then doing something else? What is the routine for each day like do you get showers each day and what time is lights out? Stuff like that. Thanks.
Depends on your MOS and what kind of unit you're in. If you're not in the field you're probably doing some BS duty or vehicle maintenance or taking classes (ranging from hygeine to the Laws of Land Warfare to how to emplace a Claymore).
Ok so for infantry Im gonna be mainly out in the field and stuff learning about things Ill need right?
Yep. My advice is to learn to use any weapon or piece of equipment you can. Beyond the basic infantry weapons, try to take lessons on stuff like Stingers, mortars, Javelins, TOWs, .50 cals, call for fire, or whatever else your unit offers. Likewise for driving lessons.
I'm new to forums. Just applied to re-enlist with the Australian Army Reserves.
I was a Medic for a few years, but am applying to go back in as a Cavalry Scout with a Bushmaster unit.
Can't wait to get back in...![]()
Yeah, I loved exercises where I got to hang out with all the Armoured guys (funny how us REMF's always get used to 'play enemy'), but back at barracks I was relegated to paperwork and organising medical appointments.
Can't wait to be at the pointy end all the time!
Army is offering heaps of 18 month contracts for reserve people wanting to serve overseas: six months each of work-up, deployment & work-down.
Perfect opportunity at the moment because Oz has forces all over the world: Afghanistan, Iraq, East Timor, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, etc.
Just hanging out now to find out how much recruit training I need to redo![]()
