Pattern 68? I don't think they're that old are they?

Sure the late pattern 84 have green-blue plain buttons, and also the colour is bit different. Yours should be the pattern 68

All I know is they're trops. But the date on the tag is too faded to tell. I'm thinking they're 80's versions.

Here's a shot I found of '68 DPM. Mine has little black dots around the black brushes, 68 doesn't. If that's any help.

This is mine tropical shirt, pattern 68, as you can see it has little dot like your pants.

Well, I've also got a trop combat shirt in the "teabag" (airtex) type material. Anyone know where I could get matching trousers for that cheap?

It'd probably be easier to find a match for that then a likely matching shirt for the older-type trop pants.

    Thanks in advance.

    Oh, jesus f***ing christ!!!!

It's just some tropical combats for feck's sake.

They're difficult to find now but it's still not worth a massive internet masturbation-fest.

    1) Anyone wanting an exact match will be out of luck. The chances of that are miniscule.

    2) The older stuff is best. If you have older stuff it is more valuable.

    3) Finding original trousers is nigh on impossible in practical sizes (32-34 inch)

    Default Old school tropical combats!!

They also have the small puke-green buttons as opposed to the larger, dark green buttons.

    Here they are:

    Full shot of the pants.

Close-up of the leg and rear pocket. I modified the buttons by just touching over them with a black sharpie (the buttons were very shiny, I did it to cut down glare.)

Close up of the pattern. Pay special attention to the waistband...I need a shirt with this type material and with the yellow-green buttons.

I noticed that it almost resembles US-issue heavyweight twill type pattern...if that's of any help to anyone.

If anyone has a shirt like this or knows where to get one, please reply. Thanks.

It looks like you have a pair of what they call " old school tropical combats. made from 245gsm Fabric which is 25 percent heavier then Soldier 95 combats. The pattern is called 83-65/4 it differs slightly from current issue as it repeats every 26/27 inches. You can get a top at http://www.army-surplus.co.uk/
    Best of luck!!

Don't ask how i know these things!!

    That website is down...

I found a pair of Teabag cloth pants to match the teabag shirt I have, but haven't ordered it yet.

I recently purchased a pair of the airtex/teabag trop trousers, they just came and match my shirt great. I'll post a pic of my kit sometime this week, hopefully.

Ooookayyy.... This thread has got seriously into a bizarre 'rate my trops' fetishism. So now for something completely different! And something that every squaddie appreciates, warm dry feet in winter!

    My latest purchase:

    Overboots, ECW

View of fur bootie-thing that goes over your actual boots. Mesh bottoms so it doesnt get clogged up with mud.

Bootie zips up over your normal boots.

Inside of the overboot proper, made from some moisture-vapour-permeable material, looks different to the issue goretex tho... There is another layer of fur around the foot on the inside as you can see...

Rubber sole pattern. Theres a bit of a ledge at the heel in the sole, probably you can see it better on the first pic. Anyone know if thats got a purpose, like fitting snowshoes?

All done up, straps tightened, on my foot. Hairy legs for illustrative purposes only, I do not advocate going out on a bloody Baltic day with only shorts on

Overall, nice bit of kit. Relatively cheap and warm, with a good construction to them. I've yet to try them out properly, and I have a feeling that when I do, it will be for walking/hiking and such (can't see myself getting away with these for mil stuff really)...

The label says FOOTWEAR COVER, EXTREME COLD WEATHER SURVIVAL, made in 1996, but oddly a short section has been cut out of the label :S ...

Anyone interested in getting a pair too (25 squid), I'll put up the link.

Yep I hope they will be useful, it does get cold and wet around these parts esp in winter. Although I imagine these boots were meant for Norway or similar...

Here is the link if you are interested, Silvermans are often pretty pricey but these were not bad I feel for 25 pound:
    http://www.silvermans.co.uk/ProductD...3/Default.aspx

I will let you know how they get on after some time outdoors! I think the CSM would probably throw a fit if I rocked up with these on however, so it will probably have to be civ rather than mil stuff...
