So much stick about this OTC ha ha.
I hope to get my commission as I have 4 years at university. After my commission, and possible serve some time in the army I will apply for POC at CTC.
I can ask to take a year out of uni and get deployed with a TA unit whilst in the OTC. I will have to do 6 months preparation/training, then I can do a tour overseas. May consider that prospect.
Yes it is a leadership training course as well. The OTC i'm involved is far much more serious than other OTC's in the country, and an all infantry one too. Those who say the OTC are drinking clubs, that's what I had heard before I joined, and that's what I was expecting, but not the OTC I'm at.
We do have the officer mess where we have a swift few halves, but it's focuses quite a lot on training, drills and so on. 90% of those in the OTC where I'm at seek a career in the armed forces.
For real? the wrong coloured sling? Jesus above you would think that there is a few more pressing things for a platoon sergeant to worry about than a fooking sling.
When I did infantry school in '95 (UK, St Annes Barracks, Yorkshire) the three stripes fought each other if their was a chance of a gucci sling or bit of kit.
A certain Corporal got himself a weekend off duties for furnishing the platoon commander with a vietnam era M14 sling - we looked a right mismash, but they didn't give a fook because it was gucci.
Oh hi guise. Just thought I'd like post my loadout lol. It's my 'been up the hills all day f*cking knackered and hungry lol lol' loadout. lol.
Any tips are appreciated lol. I might post my 'just back from training with the SAS and CO19' loadout later. It's like a good one, you know? lol
lol
That's what I said. I had a tan single point sling, and my First Sergeant told my Platoon Sergeant to make me get rid of it. Said it was too "high speed". The funny thing is, my CO uses the same style of sling, only his is black. Go figure.
Anywho, p_unit_ghetto, add a vest to that, maybe a helmet and comms, and you've got one of the SAS kits from CoD4.

Sh1t above, next he will moan its not coloured right for your 'loadout'.

Jeans, white trainers and a black wind cheater jacket, orange armband with three high vis squares on it and a three hole bali will be an ideal 'load out' for CO19 training with SAS on anything but hostage rescue. Oh and take a high vis just incase your going to be doing any vehicle work. Health and saftey you know.
If its hostage rescue, then its full flash gear.
