Currently China is consuming more than 50% world's steel and concrete to build one of the world's best infrastructure.
1.Shanghai(17m ppl)

3. Shenzhen(9m ppl, second largest city in Guangdong province)
4.Chongqing(28m ppl)
5.Beijing(16m ppl)
World's TOP20 skycrapers, 11 of them are in China(6 in Mainland, 4 in Hongkong, 1 in Taiwan)

China needs to develop light rail, not roads. As China develops, they're not going to be able to keep up their demand for oil, steel and concrete, and will need to look towards alternatives. Good infrastructure development now will save them from a potential major crunch in 10-20 years. Those massive superhighways are not the way to go. China needs to invest heavily in nuclear power, railroads - both light rail for commuters and superfasts to connect major urban areas - and environmentally friendly buildings like the new BoA tower being built in New York.
