    Default Americas Army At E3

    http://www.americasarmy.com/archives...ence_at_e3.php

"Next generation capabilities were shown by the Army’s future land warrior demonstration (the Objective Force Warrior) and the Talon Robot system."

Allthoug it's a nice game it still makes me wonder if making a game to kinda "promote" people to join the army isn't kinda over the top. They don't really portray the darker side of war which you'll face when you join the army.
On the other hand I'm glad american taxpayers give us a nice game

Well that's one of the good things about the game, that it does promote realism. Unlike other games, you can't turn off the friendly fire mode, the grenades are extremely deadly at a good distance, and weapons jam every now and then. The game has been less popular because of these few things but it's a good effort on their part.

We use that game here in a lab setting to work on squad tactics.

Looks like a cool expo and all, but did anyone else notice the little town set up with the chopper wreckage in the center. Looks like they were trying to re create a scene from Mog. Just a little weird.

I know Hood but still I'm talking about civilian casualties and such but it's pretty hard I guess to recreate that in a video game.

Well, at this point it might be a limitation of the graphics etc. If you fill up an urban map with a lot of civvies that can accidentally be killed, it would probably slow things down too much. Stuff like that will probably be in games in the next couple of years though.

One of the big drawbacks I cant stand about that game is that there are only about 3 maps that are not a MILES operation.I cant stand that stuff on a game. Not only that but all the maps are basically made for a huge number of players to play on but when you do play there are only around 10-15 people on average.Plus it would be nice to hear background noise, like the game automatically plays gunfire so it seems you are part of a bigger operation than what you are looking at.You know, there are other firefights going on off in the distance or behind you, whatever. One more thing, even though the game is made to realism specs, you always have some asshole doing the bunny hop or just plain ol' cheating.I swear people never get tired of that stuff.

Other than that its a alright game.

One of the other games at E3 that looked incredible was full spectrum warrior. Supposedly it was made for the US military, and now it's being ported for the Xbox game console. It covers squad tactics, with you as the commander. You're never actually pulling the trigger in the game, but just moving your guys around. The detail is rather impressive. Here's a streaming movie of some of it.

Most of the maps arent Miles, only official Miles servers is the training ones in Mckenna. In insurgent camp they do have other sounds such as jets flying overhead. I agree, I dont like that jumping stuff...its all those old cs players, which I never liked cs in the first place.

The standard TALON robot is a modular system that includes a removable, double-jointed, 64-inch (1.6m) arm and gripper. It is controlled through a two-way RF or fiber optic link from an attaché-sized Operator Control Unit (OCU). Along with up to seven cameras located on the vehicle, the OCU provides continuous situational data for precise vehicle positioning. TALON’s speed ranges from 4 mph (6.6 kmh) down to a creep with a continuous operational life of over four hours. It has been configured with more than 60 different mission packages and can carry more than 200 pounds (~90 kg) as a payload for maximum flexibility in any situation.

A friend of mine, Wojtek visited E3 and took several photos of Talon robot. He gives me assent to show that pictures. Enjoy.
