Wow, it's been ages since I last visited MP.net

I wrote a small () article about the Sea Harrier's participation in the Falklands War. Sadly, it's only available in Spanish... but even if you don't feel like reading the whole thing using an online translator, it still has some neat photos and pretty cool graphics for you to feast your eyes on

    Anyway, here it is:

I wasn't sure as to which Falkland Islands thread to post this in but as it was about a fictional story about Argentine conscripts serving 30 years ago, this thread seemed most apt.

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013...r-tv-argentina

"Now a group of young film-makers ...// Argentina's first TV drama about the Falklands conflict. Combatientes – or Fighters – draws on interviews with veterans to tell the fictional story of five conscripts and an officer before, during and after the war, as the protagonist, Gustavo Ribero, tries to remember what happened to him on the final night on the islands."

    Official Falklands War Statistics released:

A comprehensive statistical study of the deaths of personnel deployed to the Falklands since the end of the conflict has been published.

The study, by Defence Analytical Services and Advice (DASA), published today, Tuesday 14 May, is the first of its kind and has shown that:

25,948 UK Armed Forces personnel served in the Falklands Campaign
237 personnel died during the campaign
1,335 Falklands veterans have died since 1982
95 of these deaths (veterans and in-service) were attributable to suicide and open verdict deaths
    Short MoD news article here:
    https://www.gov.uk/government/news/f...stics-released

    DASA article/stats here (PDF):
    http://www.dasa.mod.uk/publications/...hTime=08:30:00

I've not read through the whole thing yet, but it seems we can kiss goodbye to the oft quoted "more Falklands vets have since committed suicide than died during combat".
