    National Day Parade, Pakistan

We had a scaled down version this year because the new venue is under construction. So heavy equip was only on ststic display.

This is Paki's national day or whatever it is called, but what is with the missle that has name of a Hero of Afghanistan (Ghauri)? It is as shameful as if the Isrealis were to name thier Merkava tank After Stalin because he kicked some German ass.

I wish such parades and events could take place here. The likes of the Golden Jubilee are done to a T, but come along once every now-and-again.

A Pakistani will probably be able to answer this better ... I think POF licence-manufactures the G3 in Pakistan.

The connotation behind the name is not something I agree with but who knew Ghauri could get a guy so exicted!

Muhammad of Ghor (Persian: محمد شہاب الدین غوری), also Muhammad Ghori or Mohammad Ghauri, originally named Mu'izz-ad-din, b.1162 - d.1206, was an emperor under the Ghorid dynasty. He was also the governor of Ghazni (province in modern Afghanistan) from 1173 to 1206.[1] His ethnic backround was most likely of Persian-speaking Eastern-Iranian stock.[2]

Muhammad was the brother of the Sultan Ghiyas-ud-din Muhammad of Ghor (province in modern Afghanistan). Ghor lay on the western boundary of the Ghaznavid. Before 1160, the Ghaznavid empire covered an area running from central Afghanistan to the Punjab, with capitals at Ghazni and Lahore.

Punjab is a province of Pakistan and Lahore the capital of Punjab!

It's not like Afganistan and Pakistan have been rivals! In late years if you were a brother of 3 then one would be in Afganistan the other Pakistan and the third in India!

The real venue is under repair so it was a much much more scaled down version. The Heavy equip T-80UD, MBT-2000, Al-Zaraar, M-113, Talah & etc were all on static display.
