Maybe someone called the vest type 2 since it's the second generation of Mehler vests in use with the Bundeswehr.
I've never heard of this name for any Bundeswehr vest during my service.

Nobody uses s95 kit while deployed and get a different helmet (Gefechtshelm or Sprunggefechtshelm).
Well, but nobody would be so cool as me

@ choisen150 -I want one!!!!!!!
@murmelmann - i have a gefechtshelm and i use it in woodland GAMES. in the picture it is quite clearly a loadout for an urban or desert GAME. and hopefully by now you will have noticed that i keep writing GAME in capital letters.
this is a reenactment/airsoft/paintball part of the forum. i will deploy with whatever i so wish, and the fact that i have quite clearly spent fortunes on my kit may suggest that it might be a tall order to pay another £400-500 for a complete Idz loadout.
the thread is titled "Pics of your german Flecktarn kit ".
i do believe that the picture i have posted is exactly that

@mikea
Just a question ... not critism only by couriosity
Are you left handed? Or is the G36 just for the pic in the left hand?
Question because of the SEM on the left shoulder!
Thx!
Btw cool looking loadout! IMHO!

i am not left handed. sadly due to a battery issue i had to put a peq box on the side of the ris. as i hate peq boxes so much, for my own satisfaction, i had the picture taken with it out of view, thus the rifle held in my left hand.
also i added the finishing touches to the paint job with the peq in place so it would have looked a bit odd if i took it off and posed with it in my right hand.
criticism is a negative to what i would prefer to recieve as a constructive learning point.
curiosity is how we started to learn the lessons of life, which rewards us with wisdom.

thanks mrmojorisin124, you obviously have good taste
with regards to mehler vest types, i was refering to the st being a type 2 that choisen150 was wearing.
there are several variants of the st.
the original had a high collar with no s95 attachments on the waist line.
the second had the s95 attachment area added.
the third had the s95 attachment area and the collar was made shorter to stop the hard fabric rubbing against the cheek of the wearer.
(second and third modifications may have been made at the same time)
the fourth was made of a more flexible fabric all together.
most of my team members have mehler vests, and they do vary quite obviously.
choisen quite clearly has a shorter collar on his st, and also appears to have his utility pouches mounted to the modified s95 attachment areas.
i hope this clears it up for some of you

Here's a straight photo of Mehler (in german sadly :P)

Here mainly in Splitterhutzeweste and S95 kit. I am in Mehler![]()
mikea0041: I agree with two diferent versions - since 2002 (both collar sides made of cordura), after 2002 (feldjacken stoff and cordura and smaller collar). But statement that panels S95 were added at some xx. St vest version is false.
