Very symbolic photo, no.1 nationalist poet Uri Zvi Greenberg with soldiers on temple mount:

A poem by Uri Zvi Greenberg:

Your Rabbis taught: A land is bought with money
You buy the land and work it with a hoe.
And I say: A land is not bought with money
And with a hoe you also dig and bury the dead.
And I say: A land is conquered with blood.
And only when conquered with blood is hallowed to the people
With the holiness of the blood.
And only one who follows after the cannon in the field,
Thus wins the right to follow after his good plow
On this, the field that was conquered.
And only such a field gives nourishing and healthy bread
And the house which arises on its hill is truly a fortress and a temple,
Because in this field there is honorable blood.
Your Rabbis taught: The messiah will come in future generations:
And Judea will arise without fire and without blood.
It will arise with every tree, with every additional house.
And I say: If your generation will be slow
And will not grasp in its hands and forcibly mold its future
And in fire will not come with the Shield of David
And in blood will not come with its horses saddled -
The Messiah will not come even in a far off generation.
    Judea will not arise.
And you will be living slaves to every foreign ruler.
Your houses will be straw for the sparks of every wicked one.
And your trees will be cut down with their ripe fruit.
And a man will react the same as a babe
To the sword of the enemy -
And only your ramblings will remain - yours...
And your statue, an eternal curse.
Your Rabbis taught: There is one truth for the nations:
Blood for blood - but it is not a truth for Jews.
And I say: There is one truth and not two.
As there is one sun and as there are not two Jerusalems.
It was written in the Law of Conquest of Moses and Joshua
Until the last of my kings and my traitors have consumed.
And there will be a day when from the river of Egypt until the Euphrates
And from the sea until the mountain passes of Moav my boys will go up
And they will call my enemies and my haters to the last battle.
And the blood will decide: Who is the only ruler here.

It is much better in hebrew, as he uses quotes from the bible and midrash in the poem. One more, which today allmost sounds prophetic:

    Jerusalem-of-my-shrine, besieged by Arabs
Reducing her to ruins, under which,
In the rubble of my homes, lie the corpses of my forefathers
Because of the sin of my ministers' deceit and Sharon's betrayal:
    Israeli unity around Aaron's calf,
Israeli unity around Sharon's calf --

Default REQ INO IDF Six Day War uniorms and equipment?

Looking for info on the gear and equipment that was used in the Six Day War. Seems to be a mix match of helmets and uniforms. Also noticed some of the high speed units wearing some kind of camo any ideas what it is?
Pics Im looking at are in the following thread:
    http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums...ighlight=sinai
Any info would be great (uniorms web gear etc), trying to get some together.

    Thanks
    Doc

I'm slightly curious as to why you wouldn't ask within the actual thread itself...since no doubt the people who have the info are/have posting/posted in the thread itself...

Camo is fench, "lizzard" patter. Issued to paras and Golani, by 1967 it was mostly relegated to reserve units (thus many picture from Jerusalem show Israeli paras in full or partial camo). Also present are US M1943 and Israeli made pieces of uniform.

Webbing is locally made with configurable pouches for various types of ammo.

Helmets are a combo of British jump helmets, Israeli made models, some American stuff. Older British designes are still present is some rear-echelon units.

Really great pics! I love it. Specially the upgraded Shermans... Some came from the junkyard of the Philippines and some probably from the stocks of the Philippine Army.

Those machines were Artillery Tractors. Also some as command posts, I believe.

Im just curious. Thoes jeeps with the Recoliless rifles in the back I have noticed are a used quite a bit in the middle east, but for the life of me I cannot even grasp the idea on how they use these weapons or more to the point thier role on the battlefield. To me it looks like a direct fire weapon but I doubt it could be aimed at infantry.

Like this one. where the gun seems very low on the vehicle. How they deploy this in a combat situation leaves me with ???
