    As always, great pics, ggk!

Do you know how old this pic is? Because between the Sibmas and the Scorpion I spot an old Jeep with a 106mm Recoilles Rifle and I didn't know that Malaysia still uses them?

Like this one that you posted way back (but this one is old, the pic up there looks newer):

Thanks, ggk! You don't see this jeep very often today, mostly G-Wagon and Land Rover. I thought the 106mm recoilless rifle was replaced by the Metis-M on G-Wagon.

Ageing Nuris to make way for Cougars

    By Marc Lourdes

    2008/09/26

From Nuri to Cougar. The Royal Malaysian Air (RMAF) will replace its ageing fleet of Sikorsky S61-A4 Sea Kings, better known as the Nuri, with Eurocopter抯 Cougar EC725.

Prime Minister and Defence Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi announced this today after a honour parade at Wisma Pertahanan at Jalan Padang Tembak.

The Eurocopter Cougar EC725 is one of four types that were shortlisted by RMAF. The other three were the Sikorsky S92, the Agusta Westland EH-101 Merlin and the Russian-made Mil Mi-17 Hip.

The manufacturers of these helicopters took part in an open international tender at the last Langkawi International Maritime and Air Show.

It has been reported that the government is allocating US$600 million (RM1.93 billion) to initially buy 12 of the new helicopters for service until 2050.

Eight units are planned for the RMAF for the Nuri replacement programme, while the remaining four would go to the army.

I'd also say put at least something around it. This is so unworthy of a soldier who died in battle. It even looks like someone bumped his car against the stone.

I was reading this thread when I saw a picture on page 8 a while ago and I recognised the picture.
Then today when I was looking for gloves on the net I saw the pic again but this time it clearly shows that it is originally a pic of the the swedish CT police and that on the pic on page 8 the insignia and markings on the uniform had been blurred out

This is the link to the post showing the "malasysian SOF" on page 8:

This is the link to the pic on the website showing the original pic...
    www.militaryshop.se/produktdel.cgi?pid=3255

How is this possible does the guy on PR department just search for pics on the net or could it be some else explonation?

Is it OK to do like this? what do you guys think?

If it is so that the original pic is showing the swedish police and the malasyian SOF unit has just "borrowed" it because it was a good picture, then I think it is not very proffesional...

It is a little bit funny though...

/// No offense towards you "ggk"

Yes, i agree the least they can do is have a mini platform on which the memorial stone can stand and not like sticking out of a grass patch at the side of the road.

We have the V-200, still in service with the Field Defence Sqn of the RSAF and People's Defence Force(PDF). I note a similar turret design and weapon system as the above V-150.
