To protect with their lives - Fotoplay

Pictures by NORAFIFI EHSAN / The Star

Members of the elite Unit Tindakan Khas (Special Action Unit), better known as UTK, are responsible for escorting and protecting top leaders and VVIPs. Aspiring police officers who want to join the unit have to undergo specialised training, including sharpshooting, bodyguard training, hand-to-hand combat and parachuting. Normally fewer than 10% of them make the cut.

Counter-strike: Normally located at the rear of the rescue car in a motorcade alignment, back-up firepower will move in to neutralise the threat to facilitate the evacuation of the protectee.

Potential threat: The pillion rider assuming a stance to simulate a counter-attack on a speeding superbike. UTK members need to be prepared for many possible scenarios.

Lock and load: The cross draw technique is used to engage armed attackers while screening the protectee with the jacket. The side draw technique is equally practical. (look 3 UTK chicks in a row!!)

Protective shield: Trainees practising an all-round defence formation to shield an injured protectee.

Mobile defenders: Fender drills help trainees learn to maximise the security of the protectee during a slow drive. Fighting is not the top priority in a motorcade but survival is.

Upacara Pelancaran Bot Ronda WaterCat M14, Perisytiharan Unit Gempur Marin (UNGERIN) & Perisytiharan Pemakaian Beret Baru Pasukan

Kemaman, Terengganu - 24 November 2008.

Ismail, Pengarah Jabatan KDN/KA, YDH DCP Dato' Abdul Rahman bin Hussin, Timbalan Pengarah 1 Jabatan KDN/KA, YDH P/DCP Dato' Robiah binti Abdul Ghani, Ketua Polis Pahang, YDH SAC II Isa bin Munir, Komander Pasukan Polis Marin, YDH Timbalan-Timbalan Pengarah, Pegawai-pegawai kanan serta anggota PDRM.

looks like now Royal Malaysian Police got 3 special tactical marine unit under them....
the UST team(unit selam tempur, from VAT69), the UNGERIN (from marine police) and UTK team...

You're part of the Rela Corps? Cool, what year are you in right now? What's your rank? Haha. I heard that people only in their 3rd year can handle firearms if not mistaken. That's long time man! Why didn't you join the Wataniah Regiment btw? Instant firearms handling.

What sort of management is that? 7 years? man.... What do you do on your weekly training? Foot drills? What else? Since you are not allowed to carry firearms you don't go for border patrols right?
