for the FALO it is the canadian version with a different muzzle brake you can see also the different handguard in two piece who serve to bipod.

midge... mine too. 'bukit kepong 'still the best malaya (aka tanah melayu) film regarding police and CT engagement with hour to hour enactment of tactics, costumes n equipment. even the 'kopitiam chawan' (scene where the ct spies having coffee near the kepong police station) got that 50's feel.

far better than Datuk JS drama series of 'Gelak Khas', huh..ggk

They are almost the same, and you are almost correct.

Malaysia Sourced its L2A1 from Lithgow, Australia,
L2A1 is the Heavy Barrelled, Automatic rifle version of the L1A1
This is essentially the same weapon as the canadian version. (In fact the rear sight is sourced from Canada on the Australian version)

Yo GGK and the Rest,Heads up Next month or so check in MPH For A Magazine called Combat & survival(an american or british mag) this time they are posting about airborne and amphibious 9th Royal Malay Regiment.
Yeahhh... u were right. that is the 7.62mm FN - FAL ( FN 50-00 ) or also known as SLR L1A1( australian version ). the rifle on that picture is the FN 50-41 equipped with heavy barrel and tripod. this rifle used as a support fire weapon just like the BAR or LMG HK11A1 or Minimi. FN FAL also has gas regulator mechanisme. so between SLR FN 50-00 and SLR FN 50-41 HB there's some differences.

MAF also use it during the UN peacekeeping mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina but in small quantities only.
