Based on the interview from L. Colonel Malakan from the militaryofmalaysia.blogspot.com. The 2 KIA Indonesian are attached to the Tarakan base in North Kalimantan. Those 2 KIA are named Mahdi Hussin and Abdul Rashid (RIP). Presumely, Malakan identified them as just regular army scouts. He met the commander of the KIA scout at the Tarakan Base after the end of the Indonesian confrontation. The Indonesian Commander was very angry with Malakan but based on the interview with Malakan he just couldn't be bothered at all. He was happy that he could avenge his colleagues death in 1963 at the 1st battle of Kalabakan ( Link to the 1st battle of Kalabakan: http://renjervalour.blogspot.com/200...old-story.html) he lost 3 of his best friend.

And no. I am pretty sure they still conduct training in Brunei. Hell! The Sultan pays the Brit. gov to maintain a garrison of Gurkhas there, with doubles as a Jungle Warfare Training school too.

there is 1 forum thread discussing the confrontration from the Indonesian perspective. It seems that the 2 KIA soldiers in the pics according to them are actually North Kalimantan communists. The reasoning from the date 30th oct 1966 the confrontation has been declared ended by Sukarno. It fact according to them most of the North Kalimantan commies were annihilated by TNI.

sorry if OT, but I see the M249 being used with the STANAG mag (top right)...rare pic of it being used that way, normally you see it being belt fed...
