The raid was the action subsequent to a noncombatant evacuation operation executed by 2/3 Marines and coalition forces at Marine Corps Training Area Bellows, Hawaii, July 26. Both operations were conducted as part of interoperability training between coalition forces during the multi-national Exercise Rim of the Pacific 2010.
