Merkava 2 on overwatch , Gaza strip , Rafah .
Javehn, can you explain how you use the .50 caliber just on top of the main gun ? Is it remotelly controlled or is it just firing straight ahead ?
(Sorry for my english...thanks

It's mounted on the gun . Where the gun goes , 50 cal goes .

Prety cool avatar, i always liked the AMX 10RC![]()
Such a cute light tank, and seems to be apreciated for it`s fire support when needed.
But I see that Jahven answered you already![]()
That's not a light tank , dude.
That's wheeled armor recon vehicle .
Ok , some pictures for the infantry guys , or this thread is going to die sooo soon .
Night operation .
City of Nablus .
Another one who tried his might on IDF , and the weapon is all what's left .
IDF outpost in Lebanon , trash is going out .
Snipers . The guy on the left probably from "Gdud Alia" (or that can be a picture taken in Lebanon , and the guy is SLA , but i am doubt this) .
If I am not mistaken, indeed the person on the left is Russian and he is a sniper instructor.Originally Posted by Javehn
Here check out this page from Isayeret.com
Here is another pic of him
I think they are the same person, right? This is Alex, the school's sniping instructor. A new comer to Israel from Russia, Alex was for several years a member of the Russian elite unit - the Spetsnaz - before joining the IDF
Anyways nice pics, though there are tons more BETTER pics on that site, but as you know I am hesitant to post from there as I explained before……oh well.

yes , he is from Gdud Alia for shure . I think he is not only Sniper instructor , but also camo specialist (that's one department IDF sucks in ) . He is Russian Jew indeed .
Perhaps he is both, I mean hey why not, its not like in infantry we have to throw all you ruskies to GivatiOriginally Posted by Javehn
, some of you have talent in specialized fields and well we should take advantage of it as the IDF does from any other “olim” that come from military units from other nations with special skills.
As for camo, well yeah you do have a point, though with the webbing suits, the “Mitsnefet”, and a growing sense of camo importance, I would say we defiantly improved as compared to how it was ten years ago (where there was almost nothing besides just the OD BDU’s) but yeah we still have ways to go and I agree we can still use improvment (especily in terms of proper application of camo face paint where we have ways to go on that).

OK my bad![]()
That fact is that the VBL is THE recon tool in the frecnh army, for it`s self defense it has a ANF1 on top and sometimes a Milan.
My old genreation worked maiinly on P4/milan, and we got our VBL pretty late in my service.
All of that to say that the AMX10RC has been more often used in platoon of let`s say "armed recon", rather than individually, where it s used for fire support (the 105 has some woof).
It's BRDM-2 , i don't know how they call it there . It was given to PA as a gift by Russian Federation - 42 vehicles (12 platoons ) in 1996 , and they were in use by PA 17 commando force .Originally Posted by born_to_kill
They were ****ed up by IDF raid on Anzar-2 compound in Gaza , at 2002 . If i am not mistaken , during "Homat Magen" operation .

They also had BTR-152 ... Had is the key word here .
Thanx, gilgoul, but it's not an AMX-10RC, it's the VextraOriginally Posted by gilgoul

8x8 demonstrator (french word is "démonstrateur") or prototype which was designed to give a family of vehicles (IFV, fire support, etc...) but the program has been cancelled and replaced by the VBCI...But you are quite right because the Vextra turret is a TML105, which is the little sister of the AMX-10RC turret, the TK105...
here's the Vextra :
and here's the AMX-10RC :
Thanx to you two for the info, I like the Merkava and the story of its conception. By the way, what's the name of his "father", yet ?
What are those chains on the back of the tank for again????The ones hangin down.
