Swimming will use your entire body and you probably won't be able to go 30minutes straight if you're just starting and swimming in good form and pace. Cycling also concentrates on different muscles but you might be able to go longer. Mix it up depending on the weather, terrain, and how you feel. Swimming is great for those days you don't want to lift weights and run after each other...

do it wrong and you'l get the benefit of paying for a doctor...even more so than bad bench pressing and such.

Punchbag training greatly improves your cardiovascular and respiratory system (heart and lungs)

    It also
builds upper body strength, especially in the arms and shoulders. And as a result, gives you stronger punches.

Wise words, punch a bag wrong and your enjoyment of oneself will be gone for days, if not weeks!

Yeah, I've decided to maintain the present routines of running, push ups, sit ups and some upper body work with a set of 10kg bells. I'll hopefully up those to 15kg over the next week.

After my vacation I'm back, glad to see this thread is still goin. Congrads Nawlins. I've started a new work out for lax in the fall; 21's (which are 3 different curl motions one low, one high and one full curl motion), squats, pyramid benching, hammer curls, cable cross bicep curls (using a cable cross machine put the handles about 2 notches above your shoulders and do the motion that you do the flex your biceps), and some other stuff.

Instead of running for 51 min, switch it up with a multi sport work out. I don't know about you but I hate running for a long time. When you do bike/run and sometimes swim work outs its a lot more fun for me. What I do is bike for 10-15 miles then run for 1-2 miles. Its not as far as I would normally run or normally bike but its more 'fun' and I think a better work out then just doing one or the other. But swimming and biking are less impact workouts compared to long distance running. Not saying that biking and swimming are not as hard (I'm a terrible swimmer) but they bring a lower chance of injuring something.

In regards to running, your time of 51minutes is meaningless without knowing how much distance you've covered. For all I know, you could be running 1k in 10 mins or 1k in 5 mins. Try to find a track or a distance you know and go at it!

just biking,as a different form of cardio....cos long runs ARE pretty damn boring, could not agree more...

alright well depends on what kind of bike you have available. If you have a road bike, then you can either do a distance ride to help build your lactate threshold/cardio and all that. You can also do sprints on your bike where you go at full heart rate for a short distance, just like doing sprints while running , just not as high impact. If you have a mountain bike then obviously take it off road, which is a great way to build up your agility and reaction time by dodging rocks and trees and such.

can i suggest one of the most simple of exercises: Fartlek.

it does wonders for your lower body, allout resistence and upper torso inner organs: improves heart ratio and breathing capacity... (but don't follow that if you have any lower legs injuries still on) and itīs not boring.
Itīs really quite efective in terms of sticking faithfull to it.
