Holy ****. Thank god though, I feel less intimidated by some of the weight you're throwing around.

This is the 4th WOD from the cross fit regional competitions. Its brutal. Not for amateurs like me.

I'm back to squatting heavy twice a week. This time the rep counts are higher (up to 8 reps as opposed to never more than 5) and its not as linear a progression. Each season is 4 or 5 sets of back squats and then 4 sets of front squats. Feels good so far.

For the CFers here, I did the new Hero WOD called Brian on Saturday. 3 rounds of 5x15' rope climbs/25x185# back squats in 19:55. Did all the back squats in the high bar position. Squats were fine but the rope climbs really tweaked my arms out. My descents were terrible and wore me out. Need to put some work in on that skill.

The elite female that goes to my gym did it in less than 10:30. Amazing to watch.

I've been got the hang of it over the years. When my football career ended I went from a lean 255# to about 290# in a two year span only working out once or twice a week. I elipticaled my way down to sloppy 260# for a wedding in 2008. I then read the paleo diet for athletes in october of that year. Immediatly there after got the flu and then parlayed that into the diet. Over the course of 6 months I got down to a super lean 225#. Realizing that I felt way too light for my frame 6'6" I began the gaining process in the fall/winter (sticking to paleo principles) followed by cutting the bodyfat in the spring/summer and seeing how much lean mass was left. Summer of 2009 I was about 235#, summer of 2010 I was about 240#, summer of 2012 I was about 245#, and this summer I am hoping for a 250#.

However now I have to figure out how to maintain for the long run as I really dont want to get any heavier.

I watched "Supersize Me" and had to go for a run. 4 miles later I feel cleaner.

6'6? Man I would be playing for Maccabi right now, Im only 6'0. Im glad you got it all figured out though. It takes some of us years to figure what our body responds too.

Yeah rope climbs can play with your head big time if your fatigued, arms all pumped up that you honestly dont know if you can hold on....

Ive found climbing with the j-hook while fresh-freshish then move back to the spanish wrap when im buggered. The full wrap feels heaps more secure but is slower.

You guys been watching all the crossfit games action?

how bullsh*t quick was dan bailey's 'Diane'? dammm i was stoked to go 8.36rx'd but thats insane

I ran 10,5 km memorial race in British WWII equipment, weight cca 10 kg including Tommy gun. I represented a Czechoslovak soldier in UK during the WWII, undergoing the assault course or so. Did not finish worse than a platoon of soldiers from our elite 5th Special Task Regiment.

    Busy weekend...

    Friday:

    Deadlift @ 455# x 3-3-3-3-3 reps
    Power Pushupa @ 22in box x 4-4-7 reps
    Valslide Side Lunges @ 35# x 8-7 reps
    Overhand Grip Pullups @ Bodyweight + 35# x 5-5-5 reps

Saturday morning surf at Newport pier. Wind sucked so spend most of the morning paddling around.

Monday morning surf at Sunset Beach. Low surf, but much nicer conditions.

Max testing this week Wednesday in Bench Press, Power Clean, Deadlift, and Front Squat.
