one of the laxers at my school was a model for abercrombie, they make fun of him. To get those abs, I think, it has to deal with Genetics more then anything. You can do **** loads of sit ups all day and night and your abs will be good but not that good.

WB brought up the "fitness Sticky" idea as well. I think it would be good as long as we kept it focused. Questions, advice, and info should be the bulk of the thread. Comparing abs and asses or generally worthless conversation would have to be kept out. If someone wants to recreate a fitness thread with some good ground rules and structure.. I have no problem making it a sticky.

Its all about bodyfat %. Genetics will dictate the shape and what not but its all in what is covering it.

Well Im going to go for a decently long run in a few hours (12kish) any tips?!

Also any tips on working pecs without heavy weights? I dont have access to a gym and wont for a while. Is it push up, push ups and more push ups or is there anything to add abit of variety to the workout?

Dumbells are great when you don't have a gym. But, without equipment.. different push-ups are about it. I'd seriously look into some dumbells though.

Ive got some dumbells, they're fairly light (10kg) though. I'll look into heavier ones though, probably 15-20kg.

Run intervals at a slightly faster pace (say, a minute or so), then throttle down to your normal pace. Repeat.

It's more efficient than running at a static pace.

Throw a few hills in, if possible.

I just started running about 6 weeks ago. I've never run before in my life. I'm doing about 2 miles 3-4 times a week.

I'm entered as part of a team that's running a relay marathon next month, and I want to be able to 1) actually run the whole two miles, I still have to stop and walk for some of it, and 2) finish my leg in a not too embarrassing time.

I used to think I would never be a runner, but now that I'm doing it I kind of like it. And it's easier than going to the gym with a baby.

good for you, those kinds of races are a lot of fun. Since you have a short window to train, do interval training. Run and jog then swtich to sprints for a short distance, I do mail box to mail box then keep running and spring again. It's less boring, sorry if that didn't make sense, cuervo is killing me right now

2 things, make sure you pace yourself and hydrate. Either waterd down gatorade or accelerade before the run. I'm assuming that you want to do the run with out breaks. Like other people have said though, doing intervals will make it less boreing. (sorry about the spelling, cuervo)

Thanks, I'll give that a try. Sprinting is a bit of a challenge when pushing a stroller, but I'll try anyway.

Meh, I'm not there yet. I like it more than I used to, but I'm not in good enough shape yet to feel like it's anything other than a chore.

it took me over a year to figure out a way to run comfortably, i just focused on points while running and when i got to that point i would shift to another point. if you are thinking that you aren't going to make then usually you wont, but if you just think abut 1 thing at a time and not about the pain...you'll be golden
